Anyone fall off roof this year

Fell off my first roof yesterday was wondering if I am the only one this year. The mold and mildew had gotten horrible and while I was blowing off the leaves and pinestraw with my back pack blower and hand held I had gotten careless and wasn't watching my step, stepped on a very slick spot and OOOOPPS there I go. Luckily it was only about a 10 foot fall and I was able to brush it off and finish the job. Tweaked my back a little but not enough to slow me down.

You need to be much more careful as you know now. A 10' fall can kill you. No I have not fallen ever. I use a tow behind lift when possible or shoot from the ground. Hardly ever use a ladder. Stay safe!!!!

Do not feel so bad I took a dive about 7 years ago. Back first went through a table set and on to the concrete pad..I was hurt from hip up I got back up and completed the job and went home and the next day sucked ..the worst part was my wife and kids saw the fall and they fell out .....I never fell again knock on wood......

Your lucky there was nothing down below you like a picket fence. Gotta be aware at all times. I'm glad it wasn't worse for you.

To date I have taken at least 20-25 or more spills due to slippery Tile Roofs but have never fallen off. Almost fell off one a little over a year ago which was a 2 story. thank God I didn't. I may not be typing this right now. I've gotten heat stroke on 2 separate Roofs. 2006 and 2008. That's no picnic either..... Be safe out there. The life you save may just be YOUR OWN!!!

The worst part about it all was it was the first job I had to do by myself so if something worse would have happened I would have had no help.

CDUPONT I was reading on your website how roof manufacturers recommend chlorine bleach so the roof will fail early. If the roofs are under warranty how do they profit from that? Also curious what do you use to clean roofs?

Also "Due to environmental and safety concerns, chlorine is not recommended."

Not recommended by who?

Always trying to learn.

just got here did I miss anything yet???

Glad to hear that you are ok.

The year before I quit working at the refinery there was a contractor climbing down the ladder on the side of a tower and when his feet were at the 6' high mark, he fell backwards off the ladder and hit the concrete with his backside and head.

It was a mess and he was in a coma when he arrived at the ER. He died later that nite. They say that he passed out and fell so nobody knows what really happened.

We are averaging 95 degrees all last week and this week and it is not even August yet. Drink plenty of fluids and be careful out there, it is only going to get hotter for a while.

OK, Here we go (sound of can of worms opening up).

I went to his website and found some interesting things.

1. I have never seen commercial grade roof cleaning chemicals at Home Depot or Lowe's, Most of what they sell is not commercial grade, more like homeowner grade.

2. I understand about the dead grass and shrubbery, it can happen to any of us and has happened to me, I will admit it but I replaced the damage and they were happy. The streaks?????? What streaks???? I have some pictures of tile roofs and shingle roofs and there are no streaks. There are dozens and dozens of shingle roofs on the boards with no "Streaks". What are you talking about?

3. Do to environmental and safety concerns, chlorine is no recommended. Exactly who stated this? What organization? What company? What professional? Where is it so I can read it? What industry professional wrote it? Come on now, you state it as if it is a fact, where is the proof? Don't make a statement like that if you don't have proof.

In case you have not read the bulletins by the ARAMA, GAF and Owens Corning, you need to read them, they recommend bleach, I hope nobody that knows about the bulletins reads your website, they would be calling you a liar, phony, fraud, and more not-so-nice words trying to mislead them.

4. Bleach has no cleaning capabilities at all and the results are temporary????????? I have some roofs that are still clean after a few years, one was 4 years then it started getting dirty again. I guess you are going to say that bleach has no sanitizing qualities either? Most restaurants use bleach for sanitizing their silverware, dishes, pots, pans, etc....

I guess that everyone here that does roofs are imagining that we are cleaning the roofs, imagining that we are making people happy and collecting imaginary checks????????? Who are you? What kind of crap are you trying to feed people? I hope your customers find out about this site and learn the truth.

Are you really that Tim the Dumba** guy from the youtube trying to mislead everyone?

Sounds like you are either blasting away at the shingles with pressure or using the Sodium Percarbonate which will need pressure to clean anyway if the customers don't fall for the "wait until it rains and you will see the results", it will work somewhat but I have not seen it do a 100% job when it rains unless it is a very hard rain and drops a few inches on the ground.

5. What is this about the chlorine drying out the shingles????? Show me some proof. I want to see proof of that statement. Where is it so I can see it and the others here can see it too.

I will stop here, ther is more to contest but I have to wake up early and this will give you time to dig up some PROOF to your statements you make on your website. I would be careful about some of those statements, you might be setting yourself up for some legal issues with some companies.

I hope you did the research and have proof for your statements and did not just take the word of some chemical supplier trying to sell you his product, that would be foolish. Some suppliers will tell you things, use scare tactics and just make foolish people believe their lies and B.S. to sell them their products and make you believe that what they say is the gospel truth.

Let's see some of that proof in writing.
