Anybody know what this is?

It looks like bleach spots all over a dirty driveway measuring roughly 1200 sq. ft. There seem to be no rhyme or reason as to where they are, some are too close to the house to be from a vehicle. It basically looks like little "clean" spots on a really dark driveway. The new owner has never seen anything like it before. The location is bordering the pacific ocean so it is a fairly moist environment. It just does not appear to be an algae since there is nothing physical there, just a light patch, and lots of them. Thanks for your input guys!photo-47.jpg

Do you have any other pictures?

Is there a pattern, maybe I watch to much CSI Miami but do the marks go in one direction, I had to flip my screen sideways to verify. Looks like the stains run down so it is something hitting the surface on an angle like spit or something dripping in a very viscous state.

Hey just a thought,

Actually its flat surface, and the spots which are at least 100 in number have no rhyme or reason to them. Thanks for checking it out...

Is the driveway asphalt?

It looks like spots of degreaser (caustic based) where either it was sprayed and the drops hit the ground and not rinsed off or caustic beads or flakes hit the ground and left their mark.

Looks like the beginning of lichens.
