Any secrets to chemical dwell in hot weather?

I was playing with some oxalic on my driveway today. It was about 90deg, and it would evaporate off within a minute or so. I had to sit there and almost constantly spray the acid so it wouldn't dry out. Are there any good secrets to make more effective use of that time?

D-lysergic acid. When I used that, stuff disappeared and then suddenly re-appeared. :p

I'm going to do a time lapse for the eastern boys who don't know what it's like to live in an area where a fire hose on a fire is no good becaue the air is so dry it evaporates before it gets to the house :D

This is Chris's first summer with chems on concrete and caustic dries up in about 2 minutes. A completely soaked sidewalk can be dry as a bone in the same amount of time. Is this ok with most concrete cleaning chems?

Oxalic is a little different. I dont know all the technical stuff, but its not a cleaner really for concrete other than for RUST stains (from irrigation) It pretty much hits the rust and starts working and you may have to apply a couple/few times for heavy rust. I Xjet the stuff heavy & fast thou. I am sure the southwest heats a lot different, but its not like the dwell time of caustics

Ox is just a great concrete brightener too on MOST concrete. Not great on concrete with a lot of aggragate(sp)/stone in the mix

That fire hose thing , now thats a trip. Like to see that

Brandon / Tony, I find during our pizza oven summers that if I'm doing flatwork during the daytime, I first cool down the concrete with a good, long water flush. Chemical's dwell longer, less waste.

I don't use oxalic or caustic's, I only use Power Stroke and Rust Away.

If its a small enough area cover with plastic and let marinate. That has been the key for me removing things like mortar stains and hard water deposits. Makes all the difference, especially with a pricey chem like klenstone or something from eacochem - they work great but if they dry up before they're done, your done.

I think if you mix your soap from a powder with water, When it drys up its fine because the powder part is still there, but the solvent could evaporate. I think caustic changes the greasy dirt to something else (saponification) that can be washed off later even after its dry, of course you get it wet when you clean it.

Wow, I never thought of that.

That's a good one.

I thought you were never supposed to let caustic dry out on your surface though?

Brandon, even hot concrete if you soak the surface good, the ox should work. Its almost an instant type reaction, spray it on and it starts to disappear. This is for irrigation type rust stain. Other metals rust sometimes Ox wont work at all

Thanks, Jeff. That's good to know on OX, but I am trying to prepare myself for whatever chem I may be using at the time.

What are Power Stroke and Rust Away?

You should have the next Vegas RT in the middle of July or August! Demo on a car lot again and let them feel the 120 deg heat and the radiation effect of 150 deg asphalt.

I think you should have another Vegas RT in two weeks first (85- 95 degrees). That way the Easterners can build up to the higher temps in August.

I think it was Tony that said he would like to have monthly RT's in Vegas.

I've measured 155 on a rooftop with the laser gun. I did a 6 hour bid that day and went home baked.

But our southern neighbors, er, uh, our latest citizens by birth of the rio grande canal can work in that stuff all day. I don't know how they do it.

With caustic if it dries up you may want to wet it again to activate it.

Im from Tucson,AZ live there 19 years and man can it get hot. I could only imagine pressure washing a house and as i spray one side down its dry before i move to the next.
