Any Break-ins ?

The neighborhood tool collector made a visit to my area recently and burglarized 2 of our trucks. Happily I can't find anything missing. He popped the lock on one van and just snooped around leaving shop vac, electric portable and scads of greasy tools behind. The other one he popped the sliding door and had gotten the small spare hot water unit out on the ground and left it there because I had let the tires stay flat - so it wouldn't roll. The thing must weigh 300 pounds and maybe it landed on his toes. Anyway, now I have to put those "hockey puck locks" on the back doors and hasps on the sliding doors. The dealer wants $450 to repair the lock and repaint the door. I now park the vans side-by-side back ends up against the building. Anyone with newer vehicles - check the back door plastic area where the license plate sits - the plastic is held on with 4 screws and gives instant access to open your door handle.

Wow, I guess feel lucky that they did not steal anything. Imagine the work lost if they stole or tore up the equipment. I have been lucky having caught "curious" people at the truck while we were up on the roof. They were just looking so they said. i figure they were looking for something to steal.

Alarms !!!! And A 12 Guage always work for me....

But seriously the only way to stop crooks from stealing your stuff is video cams.. We have 2 night vision cams One on the van and one on the trailer.. We had a break in 2 months ago and they stoled our wet vac and a couple of wands.. We didn't get our stuff back but because they had a picture of the guy from one of our cams they caught the mother ffff... HAHAHA and i pressed charges... Now after this happens about 20 more times I think that will about clear out all the crooks down my street.

Hey !!!!! I had a sidewalk bum come up to me the other night while i was cleaning Burger King .. He wanted to help me work....PLEASE!!!! Then he asked me for a dollar so he could get a hamburger ... Yeah Right !!!!

Then I had a gas Station Bum try to steal one of my guns and wand .... He made it half way out of the parking lot and tripped and fell down , breaking the wand off in the gun...

The best one though was when I found this guy standing by my truck tool box , he was fixing to steal my dewalt cordless set $ 500.00 (DAMN)
My truck alarm was going off loud as hell and he was just standing there.. I put my shorts on grabed my cellphone and gun and ran outside .. he didn't move he was just standing there holding my $ 500.00 dewalt set. About the time Igot up close to him I noticed my next door neighbors Doberman ( JAKE)
Standing right there in front of him ... HAHAHA I think he peed himself... the cops came and Arrested the guy.... so what could I do.. I bought Jake a bunch of doggy treats the next day.... You should have seen the look on the guys face hahahahahaha....

Funny stuff John B, glad to see you're back - I missed you for a while.
Last year they got a wet vac - without the hose and fittings - so what's vac worth without that stuff, $20 bucks? So my 200 vac goes for peanuts. I have thought about video, but do they ever catch those guys in convenience store robberies that you see on camera? No around here anyways. I think a shotgun would work, but as you know only if I felt threatened.

Till I get thing going I am working at an electronics place the have a special an these 2.4 Hz wireless camera with the receiver for a $99 an and $79 for and extra cam they are a little bit bigger than a bic lighter and have decent audio. I am planing on hooking mine up to a pc to watch over the net

In February I left my truck unlocked overnight and had my ipod and wallet taken.

I never worried too much about locking the truck since I live on a cul de sac in a "nice safe neighborhood". I have older people all around me that have lived there since the houses were built new and watch everything that goes on.....heck even the mayor lives accross the street.

The wallet was found a few days later and returned to me minus my ID and a few cards which had all since been cancelled.

The wierd thing was they did not take the oakleys or a bag in the back seat containing about $250.00 of brand new dirtbike riding gear all bought the day before.

I had a $2000 laptop and $400 cash taken out of our vehicle in Melbourne Beach FL earlier this year. The cards were all left behind, as well as our portable DVD and 2 digital cameras. They also took $10 out of my 4 year old daughters purse and tossed it a nearby dumpster. The officer said it was the first theft they've had in months, just my lucky day I guess. I've never really had any problem with tool theives though, I had a 28' ladder stolen off my trailer at a job a few months ago.

i have learned so much that i feel like giving back some important knowledge to my fellow redneckians.....a cul de sac is known as a circle in the south:D

chris keep your wallet on a chain and your ipod clipped or duct taped to it and you will never loose them......the chain hooks to the belt loop

Ladders are a big here in Iowa, I also had a 28 ft ladder stolen off my truck when I lived in a rough hood, In day light time.... I live in a great hood now but still lock my 28 ft to the rack... If people open my trailer to steal some thing they would just walk away with a hand full of grease...
