Ambition on a budget

Well, today I'm officially a minority partner in Vegas Pressure Wash.

When Chris started he knew little about the ins and outs of starting and running a business.

I started by teaching him basics. I walked him through the legalities and the insurance nightmares.

Since he moved back here from Florida in early 2009 with a VW Jetta and no equipment he got started using my equipment and we made a deal that I would be a 50/50 partner till he got his own equipment at which point I would drop down to a 25% share. (we will play it by ear after that) This was to provide him incentive to save what he could while constantly working towards a goal. (understand that this is tough anyway since he has a wife and two kids to support and there isn't much left over to save.)

I told him the benefits of owning his own equipment with NO PAYMENTS and that was his goal.

Using money he earned at 50% he is now a 75% owner of Vegas Pressure Wash.

A few weeks back he bought a trailer skid with a 100 gallon tank and a 4.5 gpm 2000 psi landa hot unit. The unit was inadequate for what he is doing, but was perfect for my work so I traded with him under the condition that he will fix anything that goes wrong on mine up to $2500 in the future. (so far he has bought me a new motor)
He got this entire trailer setup for $1000.00. With the money he paid for my motor and other misc. items (tires, etc) he has $1420 invested in it.

This weekend he went to the government auction and bought a 96 Ford F250 5.8l gas pickup with 52,000 original miles and brand new tires. It has a few dings, but runs like a new truck. His bid was $1050. With fees, titling and smog he owns it for $1213.00

Gentlemen, here is the best $2633.00 Chris has ever spent. Today was his first day with the entire setup. With the work he has lined up it will pay for itself in about two weeks.

Congratulations Chris, I'm very proud of you. It just keeps going up from here!!!

Wow, I wish I could find a truck like that.

They have auctions like that in every municipality in every city across the USA. Just do a search online for city auctions and go bid.

I bought my Semi's & Trailers at auctions in N.Y. you can find lots of great deals at these auctions, some auctions are equipment only and others are vehicles of all types.

We've bought four from the county auction over the years and they are always in perfect mechanical shape and don't need anything at all done to them to get them road ready.

I bought a 96 F250 this time around too along with a flatbed to go with it. We've already taken off the bed and hope to install the flatbed over the long weekend.

Most people dont realize that most municipalities have strict service intervals, these vehicles get everything they need on a scheduled service.

Most of these trucks have a paper trail of service records as well, I have never had a problem with any of these vehicles either. At least you know that they were well maintained, and beleive it or not most have pretty low mileage on them because they spend most of their life locally.
