Add elctric start ?

Hi there

I'd like to know if it's possible to add electric start (with key) to a Honda GX390, and how complicated it might be knowing that I'm not the most machanically inclined guy around.

Is there something you can just connect and bolt-on ?
is a solenoid and c couple of more things right ?

I'm getting a store-box pressure washer and want to mount in inside my van and I don't see myself pulling like crazy without losing an elbow or blowing the roof.

Any help will be appreciated
Carlos

Don't give up yet! I've heard it can be done. I just don't know how. I suck when it comes to being mechanical too!

The hole can be cut, but you need a starter, flywheel, charging stator, and control box...$$$$. Buy an electric start engine, then sell the one that comes off.

Here's a chinese honda clone 13hp electric start for $249!! I think these engines are actually pretty good these days and are actually identical clones of honda.

I've bought a few of these and have put many hours on them. I buy on Monday I have them by Thursday all the way from CA to Indy. Price of $375.95 Includes shipping. 16HP with electric start.

eBay item# 200277183580 seller ID: jltlc

I saw one for $299 Electric Start Option for 13hp honda part#19913 in a water cannon 4004 w. lake mary blvd in lake mary, fl -- this might be what your looking for.

Looks like you can make a very decent PW'er with this engines and the right pump ...... What would you guys recommend for a pump to go with those engines ? The POwerMax one (on eBay) looks pretty strong.
Never built a PW myself (you can tell) so you need the engine, pump, steel/aluminum base, for a direct drive ...... can you make a belt drive too right ?

If somebody with the knowledge and some spare time would like to give us, the non technical/mechanical guys, a guide or walk-through will be great.

Thanks

Forget about adding starter to gx engine without hole in it.It's just too costly and messy.

Direct drive pumps are good for most residential projects. I have one direct drive AR pump 4000 , 4GPM with almost 500 hours on it without rebuilding but I have noticed huge difference between direct drive and belt or transmission driven pumps. Belt and trans. pumps are bigger and feels "stronger" in every way. I would never buy direct drive pump again.

Check what distributors and manufacturers on this website have to offer. You will be surprised with the value and you can't go wrong with brand new PW with manufacture warranty.

Good luck!
