Accepting credit cards

paying 3-6 percent each month adds up....

AND? I'll pay the vig any day, so what if they take a cut, you don't work for free and neither should they. Don't like the rate shop it around.

And is your marging only 3-6%? Should be 70+% all day long

Sometimes there is a cost involved in running a customer friendly business.

And that cost is more then overcome via , up selling and creative business savvy.

People seen to have an easier time spending money when they know they can put it on there credit card. Much easier to up-sell our services as well.
when job is all complete they call our office and give the girls cc info. So simple!!

Ont the fence with this deal, we own a very successful EBAY business, and paypal is the ONLY form of payment we take. SO as far as charge backs, that is just life, DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT DOCUMENT , be 3 step ahead of the customer.

Just go with a straight CC processer and pay the 3% thru a legit financial institution.

AMEN

As far as residential, do you charge prior or after completing the job? ALWAYS AFTER!!! ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS, lets say you go out of business fro assume crazy reason before you do the job? Who will give the $ back, just a better business practice to post charge or invoice rather then pre pay sometimes.

Send an invoice, no pay, no problem, sue the away, get a judgment on them and or the property and let the interest just build up, money in the bank if you ask me.

We Wait +++++120++++ days for money on a regular basis, do what you need to do to just get and do the work, that way like I said, sue if it is a no pay.

Thanks!

I teach a very detailed course on how to NOT get ripped off from non payers, my system works very well!!

My retirement will be partly due to all the judgements I have against people, remeber, I lein your propeerty, you cant sell with out 1st paying me, you cant collect insurrance money with out paying me.

Do't ever feel that being given the shaft is a bad thing, capitilize on the non payer and get 400% what the originaly owed.

Good luck

I got my square for my iphone the other day and used it today and it worked awesome and it charged me 2.75% and 15 cents per swipe, so this is the way to go!

Curious thing, i do not have a single account over 45 days, and that is the norm.

Visa and Mastercard via First Data Corp. It's the only way the county will pay its vendors and I clean a lot of the schools. I don't push the credit card availability and rarely get asked about it. A couple vendors charge a 3% convenience fee for me to use a credit card...maybe I need to do the same. I paid via check to save the 3% upcharge when paying the moving company last week.

Isn't it 3% plus a monthly fee?

The 3% is only when you use it. I have gone almost a year between transactions and there is NO monthly fee. I normally add the 3% on to my customers bill and explain it to them if they are going to use a credit card. They have all understood and paid it or just decided to pay with a check or cash.

The Automated Clearing House is an electronic network of financial institutions that carry out transactions in the United States. Direct payroll deposits, debit card transactions, automated online bill payments, business payments and e-commerce payments are all ACH transactions

Just got my square in last wek. Havent tried it yet as I rarely have people ask me if I take credit cards. Just thought it would be good to have.

We used the Square for the first time at the Tampa RT. I LOVED IT! So easy to use and emails the customers a receipt.

For those not taking credit cards: Do you not feel that you are losing out on business?

I want to take a customer's stand point on that since we are not a services company any more. I hire someone to work at my house I pay with a credit card. Mainly because I don't use cash and NEVER use checks. I have had way too many problems with my bank account and checks (blame it on BOA). But another thought that I have is that if someone doesn't accept credit cards then what are they trying to hide? A "cash only" business in my "experience" usually means something about them is not legit. ***Not accusing anyone here of not being legit...I am just giving a point of view...***

I would think credit cards would be the way to go also since it doesn't involve trips to the bank. And we have had WAY more bounced checks than we have had charge backs on credit card transactions. That is why we as a company no longer take checks. The small percentage we pay in transaction fees is worth not having to make multiple trips to the banks and not having to worry about a customer's check bouncing...AGAIN!

Just my $.02 :thumbup2:

I just started using the "Square" here for pressure washing houses, fleet washing, building washing, concrete cleaning, parking lot striping, etc.... and the only thing that I don't like is you cannot save invoices or templates on it, you have to type them all out each time instead of using a saved blank template where you just fill in the blanks.

I called them about this and they said that the technology is relatively new and they are taking suggestions but it will take a while as they are very busy working on ideas from a year ago still.

When I have to input each tractor and trailer number or house info or building info and description it takes some time typing on the screen one button at a time instead of a larger keypad but that is ok. I can swipe the credit cards there in the field but if they only have the card info, you can input it and have them sign the screen and it is all ok.

You can text them or email them the invoice you just typed out.

I am very happy with it as it saves me from waiting 30 days for a check from corporate, especially on bi-weekly accounts.

Everyone is happy and like Scott said, the money is in your account in a few days.
