A Service Magic Tip

Instead of calling your leads as soon as they come in stick the tele number, name, or email into a google search to see if a competitor shopping/testing the system was dumb enough to provide non-anonymous info. This could save you from wasted tme of actually following up on a lead in sendng emails or leaving phone messages or having a problem collecting on your lead credit requests with SM.

Great info, wish I had that a while back, I just severed my membership to SM. Tired of all the bad leads, not one good lead in over a year. Time to move on.

That is great info for the guys using them for the leads.

It is really amazing the power of Google and what features it has.

Thanks.

The last lead I got was from a competitor. I did a search on the address and it came up with his business name. Gave them a call just to let them know I didn't appreciate what they did. I am thinking of dumping SM too. In over two years I got one big job and if it wasn't for that I would have spent more money on crap leads than what I brought in. Most people on there just shop price.

i started out pretty good with service magic but lately the calls have been a waste of time. i think all the money they made me has been spent on bad leads. for example: i follow up on a house wash lead and the homeowner says that he has a pressure washer, he just wanted to know how much money he was saving by doing it himself. thanks pal, you just cost me $12.

We had problem with service magic, because other company were testing the system every week and they did not want to refund or replace leads

How many leads were in you guys areas? I just got off the phone with rep and he told me there have been 0 leads in my area for the last 2 months..

Rando,
That type of statement would imply there was no real intent for them to ever hire someone. SM would surely give yer money back on that one. And if they didn't take yer word for it without coaberating evidence of their own then I would cancel them.

thanks kevin,

i will give that one a shot. naturally i can regulate how many leads i get monthly but right now i am trying to get all i can. please hurry up and get here spring weather.

Regulating yer leads to a max when yer actually in need of more regular leads may be a bad/misunderstood thing to do. If an area is producing leads then you want to ensure you get as many of them sent to you as possable. If there are many companies and but only a few leads to go around then it is a thing of waiting your turn as SM send the leads to only a limited amount of contractors. SM uses a cyclical rotation system where your max effects how soon the rotation comes back to you. They want to fulfill a companies goal though of how many total leads they receive. A company that has a lead goal many times that of yours gets back in the pool faster. Talk to an agent about this for more specific info.. they can up your goal and increase your leads if there are leads available.

Was told today that they would cut the 99.00 fee. They can give me between 6-10 leads per month. There are no other contracters in my area that specialize in powerwashing. The others listed were handyman services. Does it seem worth it to you??? Im in a fairly decent populated city, I just dont want to be stuck paying $12-18 for a bogus lead. In which he said you can dispute any lead that you dont agree is legit.

Travis although $12 isn't much to worry about I can see things possably ending in a wash for you based on the fact that you would only be after resi pressure jobs. You would have to upsell like crazy into house washes to make it worthwhile. I think SM is better for higher end work than walks or drives.

Like I said. Most, not all, but most people on SM are looking for the lowest price. If that's not you then you won't get much work from it. You can get some big jobs from it but they are few and far between.
