6.0 diesel warning

Is that a passenger van or panel van?

I did not know that they put diesel engines into passenger vans if that is what it is. Wow, I learned something new today.

I was looking around when I bought my truck back in 2005 and saw a lot of vans but did not see any passenger vans with a diesel engine in them.

There is and aftermarket ERG cooler and oil cooler that along woth head studs will basically bullet proof the 6.0l about $3k for parts plus the install.
You can also do and EGR cooler delete(only on a truck without factory warranty) that will eliminate parts of the problems.
The dealership told me yesterday that there may be a recall in the near future to fix the head bolt issuses(swap to studs is what they hinted at)IMO it's something they need to do before someone gets smart enough to file a class action suit.
I have to take my 03 in next week for a recall on the cruise control switch. They are going to get everything up to date snce I don'tthing the previous owner did much in the way of recalls.
Any time you buy a used Ford try to get and Oasis report for it.It'll tell you what work has been done by the dealership.

Fords gotta love them gotta hate them.

They will wait until the majority of the trucks are out of warranty then say it doesn't apply. I will still rather risk it then drive a piece of trash.

I dont think that will be the case on this ones Scott. My buddy told me there is some heavy negotiations going on to make the 6.0l problem go away....be it cash pay outs or modifying the motors to fix the major 3 issues.

I agree, if it has a receptacle for a piston, it will give you problems.

Ive got a lot of miles on good ole 7.3's.
- 1999 F550 - sold
- 2002 F250 - wrecked
- 2002 F250 - replacement for the wrecked one/ still have
- 2003 F450 - still have

Ive never been a fan of the 6.0

and I prefer PowerstrokeNation.com myself

I have a '07 12' Flatbed With the 6.0 in it. It only broke down once at 1 AM on a job. At the time the truck on had 6K miles on it. Ford paid the $375 tow bill to have the truck and trailer both towed to the dealership.

Other than that I haven't had any problems. It just turned 37K miles and not even 2 years old yet.

- 03 F250 reg cab, 6.0 126k miles, 17mpg, great truck (for sale)
- 03 F250 ext. cab, 6.0 100k miles, 14mpg, great truck
- 08 Chevy Duramax 4x4, 25k miles, 14mpg, Awesome truck

I like the powerstrokes and the duramax. Fords pull slightly better since they are heavier trucks but the duramax does great as well. My fords leave the line a little quicker with a trailer since the turbo kicks in at a lower rpm and the duramax is quicker passing once up to speed. No chips on any of these trucks, had an 06 cummins that was chipped really fast but after about 50k miles started having rough shifts with the tranny. In my opinion I don't think you can go wrong with the fords or chevys. Resale value on a dodge is terrible.

My first 2002 F250 had just over 200,000.....Id still be driving it if it didnt get ran into.....

My 03 f250 6.0 just turned 243000. Only problems fixed been oil sender and 2 injectors and replaced the junk plastic radiator with an aluminum one. Trucks still running strong...

We've got two '06 F250 6.0's, and love them. From what I understand, the 6.0 head problem is fairly limited to the '03 and '04 models, and some '05. Supposedly (knock on wood) the '06 and '07 6.0's are good to go.

I hate paying the "Ford price" on parts for repairs, but it does seem to be far better quality that what I can buy at O'reillys. We've got 110K on one of the '06's and haven't touched the brakes. On other trucks, we change brakes once a year (more miles, older, and O'reilly brakes). ScottS---have you changed brakes on your '06 yet?

Okay.....does anyone know FOR SURE when the new superduty body style is coming out? What model year? And when is that model expected out? This would be the new truck with the 6.7L. I was in Colorado in August, and I saw their "test" trucks all over the place. No idea why there were so many in one spot......but had the trademark front end covered in what looks like a black trashbag.

Powerstrokeshop.com has good prices on OEM parts.

My local dealer gives me really good prices though, so Im pretty lucky

I believe the 2011 model will be the new one, with the first diesel designed "in house" by Ford.....

I changed them last May, so about 20k miles ago. When I did, I also replaced the Rotors on all four wheels. I was getting to tow something a lot heavier than my normal trailers, and so wanted to make sure my truck could stop, when I wanted.

Quick search says production starts in February 2010, and release of April 2010
