hot 5.5 gallons @ 3500 Alkota (electro magic)psi everything works fine no problems ..never had a problem.....

until I find a 5 gallon bucket (First mistake) (sorry I even did this) take the nozzle off (second mistake) and use my cell phone function stop watch third mistake(didnt know I had that feature)...and in 1 minute the bucket fills up short 3 inches of water from the top.....

I guessing its only making 4.7 gallons per minute instead of 5.5 gallons per minute.

It should be obvious what the problem is .....(I just dont know what obvious is)

did I mention I was happy with no problems before I found that stupid gallon 5 bucket :shakehead:

Dont feel to bad the first time I did the test I did it with a nozzle attached to the end and it busted a hole in 2 buckets.

I also felt bad when I measured a temp of 150F at the end of my hose (200 ft) burning 4 gph diesel (pump 8 gpm flow, inlet water 52F)

If you could determine the speed of the pump you should be able to figure where the gpm should be. If you are using the engine rpm and the using some calculation with the pulley sizes, that may be a good thing , that way you could determine if the engine rpm fell off.

How many feet of hose you ran it through?

Is it tank feed or pressure feed?

An odd ball, but, any water in bypass?

You motor might have slowed down a tad. Is it a honda?
I did the same thing with my 5gpm a few years back and it was a lil under 5. but i paid $500 bucks for with hot water. I call it frankenstein. Its part landa, part hotsy, and part ramteq i think. that sux dave

1.no by pass

2.yes its a honda 20 horsepower

3.dont know how to guess rpms.

4. tank fed 325 gallons

5.100 feet hose section

thank you lenny and squiggy (danny ) for your help (laverene and shirley main characters)

Lenny and Squiggy i love that show it was a good one back in the day

What do you mean by no bypass? No bypass line on system or no water in bypass.

No need to guess rpms, use a tiny tach on the engine and the pulley formula to get the speed of the pump. Ensure belts in good tension.

What size line do you have going to the inlet of the pump and the length of the line?

was the tank water level higher than the suction end of the pump? How much higher.

Do you see any bubbles in the suction line?

Is the inlet filter clean?

quick answers
1.filter was clean
2.don't have a bypass to tank
3.bought a 20 dollar pressure gauge tonight at northern perfect 3500 psi no spikes or swings
4.if I push hard on throttle lever engine speeds up some 5 gals in 70 seconds (minute and 10 seconds)

5.off to clean all night with my:
a. 4.5
b. 4.6
c 4.7
d. 4.8 gallons per minute
e. none of the above

the good news my 28 inch hydro tek has 5.5 nozzles and same with wand..(i'm guessing thats not a good thing)

stupid bucket :banghead:

did you check your muffler bearing...may need to be greased.

Fill 5 gal bucket with 4.7gals of water.

Find hair dryer and outlet to plug it in.

Place 1 foot in bucket and 1 foot on metal stencil.

Drop hair dryer in 5gal bucket with 4.7gals of water in it.

Call me after that and tell me that the 4.7gals of water didn't work.

Are you using diet water or de-hydrated water?

Well if you have room you could adjust the unloader a little to get some more pressure, but it depends on what the head currently has.

Best bet is to get a tiny tach and figure the engine speed and the pump speed.

With a 28" SC you maybe slower than most.

David, get a measuring cup and measure out gallons and use a marker on the outside of the bucket for the gallon marks. Not all 5 gallon buckets are the same.

I have found that some are off and most do not have marks where the 5 gallons should be at.

This might help a lot and you will know more about what your machine is putting out.

But measure the milk jug. They are a little more than a gallon, too. Or, you could just fill the bucket for exactly one minute and weigh it. Water is 8.33333 lbs. Per gallon. As long as the scale is close, it should tell you it is right on.
