I finally talked the guy into saling me the old 49 ford 1 ton,it has a 12 foot dump bed on it....now what.

It may be cheaper on me to buy a new one before I'm done with it and it may take me YEARS before I decide what to do with it,I've got my work cut out for me.

Flathead 6,4 speed, new tires but weather rotten, needs painting and inside redone, more likely all brakes and lines also.Body is straight, every little rust spots, doors shut real good, all windows ok,do ya think 500 was to much.

Anybody got a diesel auto to put in it at a cheap price or donate some chrome rims to fit it.

Hey Bigboy sounds like you got another great classic car to tinker with now.

All ya need is about $30,000 to sink in it and it will be a cherry looking rig.

As for asking for donations, heck man y'all gone bought it cheap enough n y'all got nerves asking dat question.

Y'all bro oughta have some round his place, if not sneak onto da old airport dem old planes is stored and borrow some chrome off em.

I know Luckyboy but I'm going to watch what I'm doing or it will cost me 30,000 as the reason for do'nations, haha,,will the rims off a plane fit?

I know this sounds dum but still thinking of DAT yeller color or vider red,,going to have a special bed buildt for it but but got to find motor and granny first...then again I may soup up the flathead six but I sure don't like shifting a stick,I'm la'zy.It'll have to haul 700 gals(all tanks)and two washers, plus ect.Don't know if the old flathead would run fast enough down the road hauling that kind of load, yel I know it will pull it but don't know how fast with the 4 speed thats in it now,no what I mean

Hey Biggie
Awhile back a big racoon was tryin to kill my chickens and I had to shoot the poor bugger. It's still layin out there in the back somewhere and I could send you the tail to hang from the mirror (if there is one lol) of your fine new truck. And if the northwind's still blowin where you are I could send you the whole darn thing and you could make yourself a new hat.

haha but don't you think the firely look of a fox sq'urril tail would go better with dat yeller hmm black rings may go better with red tho.

Yel and put a set of airhorns on it what would made cold chills go up ya back then ya pulled it or a set of musi'it horns dat played old cotton feilds back home songs,Dixie hehe.Big bumper with chicken lights, stacks run up the side, chrome breathers on both sides and jackbreaks to bring it in on a side when in a hurry,I'll take donations ya know hahaha j/k.

project's......... I got 3 of 'em

'54 chevy 3/4 ton
'39 dodge lux. liner..... ( 4-door)
'50 mil. jeep

while u folks are giving things away ... I will be in the line as well............

Big-Rat................. hows bout a pic?

Okay, now I am jealous, it must be nice to live somewhere that you can pile up projects. Heck, Bigboy, pull the old third member out, and put a new front end in, and update the bolt pattern. Then it will be easy to find wheels. Put a new engine, probably a cummins because it is the smallest of the pickup engines, except for maybe the 350, but I wouldn't go there, and use the Chrysler transmission. At least that is a good chrysler part. It would be one fine rolling machine. A little body work, a little paint, and it would be a heck of a work truck.

I have my eye on a 57 ford cab over, with the bull nose. it is a two and a half ton, and needs A LOT of help, but it would be a cool project as well. I just need a shop to work on it in. My last house had a big yard, but this one has a postage stamp. no room for a shop.

John either stop tryin to talk like Biggie or move to Arkansas!! lmaooooooooooooo

Wait, on second thought John, you want this dead racoon I have to make a hat out of??

Sorry Booyaa I will get my Red Neck book out and do it right next time.

On that racoon tail just ship it to Bigboy but please be sure it is in a plastic bag and on dry ice so it gets past customs and those dogs they use to sniff stuff now.

Oh just a minor detail but are you talking to me as Jon or the John from Clean County ?

"JON"

"Oh My"

Jon I'm terribly sorry that I butchered your first name so badly.

My only excuse I guess is that I'm just just painfully used to spelling that name the other way i.e. "John" the Baptist, "John" F. Kennedy, and I once got a Dear "John" letter from a girl that I was nuts about..

I promise you I'll be more careful. :p

bigboy

you may need to play with the gears in the rear
might be set up as a tug if you got the need for speed you might need change them
4 leaf springs and 4 drums

a ford 9 inc.rear
allison automatic trans. hooked to the cummings diesel
a ididit steering colum

RON M

Must be the amount of beer i drink on sat. night.
not to mention they think its funny to call a guy 6ft 2 290 lbs squirt

haha yel but squirt the little guys always told me the bigger they are the far'ther they fall,or use them as punching bags, hehe.

yel every thing works on the old thing but has a leaky fuel pump and one back break is plug'ed off.Think before I do anything is look for a wre'ked 1 ton to set the cab over on it,than again I may leave it org'al.As long as it runs 50,55 without putting it in to much popping and banging I'll be ok,I stay mostly in a 5 mile cir'le,my longest haul hmmm 12,14 miles.

Rememder one of the fleets I give away and he sorta put a knive in my back and lied,o the one I give it to.Will the fleet is moving to his home town which is hmm 12,14 miles from here, will dat will be my longest haul.I'm going to take the fleet back and wash them in his front door,no what I mean,..ss on him,now do ya know what I mean haha.I've got a newbee now lying to me( I've been told and he doesn't know I know),yel I'm stilling helping him BUT I'm going to set him up also when the tim'ing is right.Fixen to grown I think, looking for a helper now,I'm greared to go but still have a rope ti'ed to me tail but its broke, gotem take care of some lose ends hehe....looking for another turkey *LOL*.

Ron P. would ya post all your e-mail address'S hahaha the one you have here doesn't work, you most have drink to much dat turkey juice and missed a lick or two.

Since we seem to be on the subject, how about some comments on a truck I'm picking up next week to add another rig to our fleet?

It's a 1985 Chevy 3+3, Heavy Duty 3/4 ton (actually 200 less than a ton), Crew Cab (4 door, sits 6, bench seating), rebuilt 1987 350 and tranny both have about 35,000 miles on them (both engine and tranny were changed at same time). All told, 230K miles on truck itself. Owner had ladder wracks built on both sides and it's got two WeatherGuard tool boxes on both sides (total four). Body needs limited work, actually took care of it nice. Current inspection through August and good brakes. He's asking $1,800, but I'm beating him up right now and trying to get it for $1,000. I think the engine and tranny alone are worth more than $1,800. You guys think this is a good deal?

I'll probably get it a new paint job, some new upholstering on the seats, bolt a pressure washer, water tank, some reels, compressor and generator to it and it should turn out to be a nice rig.

bigboy

you got a broke rope around your tail but its still a rope. You talkin all this about buying or building a wash site with no wheels. Now you go and buy a old truck. Must be you got better things to spend your money on then a well stuffed turkey?
As far as that truck is concerned it depends on if you want it or NEED it to go to the job everyday.
not a prettier motor then that flathead when shes done up right[look up flathead on ebay] theres a guy selling a flathead made for a boat. Also a nice one that a guy had built but he died.
they got parts on there for you too.
i never miss a lick, just sometimes cant eat that much turkey.
Smith and wesson took all the fun out of fightin
you take care bigboy, some fights best fought with words, but NEVER ARGRUE WITH AN IDIOT, THEY WILL ONLY DRAG YOU DOWN TO THERE LEVEL AND BEAT YOU WITH EXSPEIRENCE.
Its too bad you put your hand out to help and you get it back bloody. Teachers teach you everything YOU know, not everything THEY know. Time to show them boys its rude to try and teach the teacher.
time to go PLUCK the turkey. lol rottie72@aol.com
open 24/7 just sometimes the lights not on.

Man thats my body style 84 though 87's bow tie's,yel go ahead and horse trade but its worth what his asking as you know.

While your upholstering the seats do the doors and behind the seat, top too with upholstering. With a new paint job I think the 81's though 87 look better than the fancy new 2002
