$35 house washes

Chad what size is the house? Is there a garage?

Single story with a garage. Around 2,200 sqft. Takes him about 30 min.

I hit a retirement community. I paid 300.00 bucks to be at the vendor fair. I was charging 125.00 for patios homes 1400 sq ft. I closed no sale. The last guy was doing the for $50.00 a house. I don't like those communities anymore.

I would go after a completely different market then. There is no way to build a real sustainable business at those prices for an owner/operator.
I have the $79.95 any vinyl house guy here. He has been in business forever and I regularly wash the same house for twice the price. I have been told by many that they got what they paid for.
Figure out your numbers, what kind of living you want to make and you will soon see that you have to charge a lot more than you thought.
I would have a minimum of at least $125 for an owner/operator and that should be a less than an hour vinyl ranch. But unless you can book 20-30 hours of washing a week, you might need to charge more.
I have a $149.00 minimum.

WOW. Consider my mind blown. I would kill to average that much in a day right now, much less on one driveway.

Dont loose faith brother. It may be a struggle right now but your time will come. sell your best service for what you think its worth not what the other guys sell their services for. Do not get stuck thinking everything has to sell cheap. If customers can not understand that you are trying to make a living then dont bother with them. Give them a reason to pay your rates. Good luck

Here's a driveway I did Saturday. Approximately 1600 sqr ft. @ .20/sqr ft that's 320 smackaroos. I'll be going back for some minor rust stains when I get the F9 Barc. I don't think it's that difficult, just stay away from the low income neighborhoods (they have more important issues to deal with).

The homeowner gave me a $50 gas card for a tip.

Oh... and I didn't leave the driveway as shown.

Great picture

If you do houses that small, you need to do all of them and then you could do $35-$50 since they are all next door. You could do a lot in one trip probably 3 an hour. You don't have to compete with that. Go after 2500 square foot houses. You can do in one hour for $250-$300.

A good job actually. We visit every year and I notice it. That's actually the going rate out there.

Wow thats amazing, Are the houses small, are they trailers where they are able to clean 40-50 in a days time?

Just read this part, sorry for the previous post

My competition are companies who's prices and demographics are within my range and target.. I would be completely indifferent and emotionless to seeing such an ad.

I have to agree with you on that ED, my competition and I are all around the same price range some higher than others, I personally don't want to be the low number guy since our work speaks for itself. I have noticed in the last month there are 3 new pressure washing companies that have popped up out of no where and I just pray that they don't end up hurting the business with low prices.

2,200 sqft. single story with a garage. That's an average size for the houses in the community. No their not trailers at all.
I don't know how many the guy does in a day. That number would be different for a lot of people.
Forgot to mention just last year he added the roof (partial clean) for $75.

Find two story houses. You have to understand these lowballers don't know what the market is. You can't run a business and treat yourself or others fairly on prices like that. He may be low balling one stories because it is all he can do. 2000 sqft is a large one story btw.

Like it has been said hundreds and hundreds of times on these sites, know your numbers, know what you have to make to stay in business and make a profit and target those customers that will pay what you want to charge.

You can spend hours and hours of your days trying to educate customers that don't want to spend more, cannot afford to spend more or pay their friends to wash their houses but your time might be better spent targeting customers that can and will pay your prices for house washing.

If you know of communities that don't pay the going rate, stay out of there and go where customers will pay for quality services.

I agree, every few months there are new companies always popping up, getting nice logos and saying how they have been in business for many years, lie about having insurance and sometimes end up damaging property and the homeowner is left holding the bag once the newbie has left and cashed the check.

I try to not even think about seeing these low prices advertised online, in the paper or on bandit signs because they really are not my competition and most customers know that they get what they pay for.

Great advice.
