$35 house washes

Can anyone beat that? How bad are the lowballers in your area? I just got yelled at and hung up on for trying to get $75 to wash a small house. In most areas that would be a low ball price but I am the most expensive guy in The Villages area. I'm getting tired of dealing with this crap.

Some people are against advertising prices. I do it so i don't get those calls. You would be surprised the amount of calls you get for higher price cleaning when you are reaching the right people. Going low never closed more deals for me, but going higher did. If you are giving it away free people won't value it. It is counter intuitive. Your best customer is not the average Joe.

For $35 I would let them have it. I have a $185 minimum on residential and that's if they are in the same city or next city over from where I live. Typical driveway cleaning for me is $285 or $385 depending on the area and it goes up from there if I have to use any chemicals.

WOW. Consider my mind blown. I would kill to average that much in a day right now, much less on one driveway.

Here's a driveway I did Saturday. Approximately 1600 sqr ft. @ .20/sqr ft that's 320 smackaroos. I'll be going back for some minor rust stains when I get the F9 Barc. I don't think it's that difficult, just stay away from the low income neighborhoods (they have more important issues to deal with).

The homeowner gave me a $50 gas card for a tip.

Oh... and I didn't leave the driveway as shown.

Actually, most of my jobs are for affluent retirees. They will spend 20-30k on a custom made golf cart, but most won't budge past $50 for a house wash.

so does that mean yu are doing 50 dollar house washes?

I'm constantly working on ways to get better at what I do though. Whether it be the sales part or the actual cleaning part I am always trying to improve. I spend a lot of time on PWI trying to learn more and pretty much every penny I make that doesn't go to paying bills goes back into the business trying to buy a better equipment better chemicals etc. Eventually I will get to the point where it won't bother me when I lose jobs to low ballers. I'm not there yet though.

Don't compete on price. No one can win at that game, I mean no one. These low ballers are not winning. Even if some one else paid all their expenses they would still be living in poverty. They are probably on welfare and just trying to screw the system.

My wife's grandparents live in Soruce Creek Country Club. Not too far from The Villages. They pay the same guy $35/year.

and what kind of job are they getting for that price? That is really bad that people charge so little trying to make extra money, when it hurts the industry as a whole!

Don't focus on customers with a fixed income like the retired or over 65. The next question you should ask everyone is, What is your target demographics. Finding the right customers is very important. Once you do that then you can get a higher price and more work.

A good job actually. We visit every year and I notice it. That's actually the going rate out there.
