"for the children".
Always
"for the children".
I'm out at 35 not retired but just out of pw. So I have 3years and 2 months left. Sorry tampons but I'm gonna tear the town up till then!
I thought his calling us that was kindof Douchebaggish.
I will no longer be in the business, 30 plus years.
Some here say it will not happen. The non-believers, I truly love the mobile cleaning industry. Its been great and I have had a lot of fun.
Its not really a bad thing moving on, I just want to spend time with my smaller kids. I neglected my oldest son, my older daughter also. The Middle Child i did ok, we never can spend enough time with them. I enjoy my life now that I have slowed down. I just think there might be something else out there to do.
Sounds crazy but I have never punched a clock, dont intend to start. I may volinteer my time someplace or get a hobby making something.
Its four year's away, I will turn 50 just after that date.
Something bad would have to happen to keep me around.
NO worries PWI is paid to be online till 2024, after that date I have no further commitments to what PWI will be or become.
The site will never be sold!!! if someone takes the burden of the costs thats up to them to keep it running the way it was created, for the industry.
We all need to stop the contractor for contractor attitude. We need to think about the industry as a whole.
This sites is here for me you and who ever can benifit. Customers, distributors and us. Our attitudes need to change, ourselfish ways need to go by the way side.
If you work hard and get busy each day you will succeed. Nothing about my business was easy, anyone from Darly to Mike H tells you that it was they would be liars. Mirza & Hinderliters worked hard to get what they have. Nelson & Grant also worked hard to achieve the greatness in there business.
Guys like DJ , Steve button , Matt Norman and Even Kory will be the guys in our shoes in only a few years in they keep working hard themselves. (dont be disappointed I didnt mention you, if your working hard you know who you are. We have talked on the phone. KEEP going)
I wrote this to dispell rumors, one thing that doesnt bother much anylonger is rumors. Weak people spread rumors, of yeah and thad does it for fun. Thats ok as long as its fun. I have been accused call and made to be a lot of things I'm certainly not. All of those who know me understand I live large and like to have Fun. I'm offensive harsh and sometimes rude. Sorry that just me being real, real is all I'm about.
I once wanted to be a pro athlete, once!!! I always wanted to start a successful business and I have completed that chapter in my life. If I turned PPW off now and walked away it would run till the industry made major changes. My customers are ROCK SOLID and are loyal. Pricing will always be fair, if your going to ever have loyal customers prices have got to be fair. That might have just been a secret for some of you new guys or even the one line punch standing in front of the prospect you want to land.
My first banker gave me this ADVICE. PAY for everything you can with CASH, build relations close to your customers and try not to have to use the Bank later in your business. Learned the hard way about the cash thing, but stopped all that after the first ten years. Shortly after that I stopped needing the bank. The last 15 years I'm the bank, my assets out way debt margins tremendous. So much even in this down market its scares me how teh ratio is not that bad. I guess its simple when you dont have debt, the market can change around you and the ratio cant change.
I have learned a lot over the years, look forward to spending my last three left here.
If you comment on the thread its not a Goodbye thread, i have three years five months left. Its just a count down!!!
June 1 Sorry I stand corrected
For some reason Ron I dont believe you! hahaha
I think you are going to be in the biz until you die! You love the industry too much! Its obvious...
I don't mind you here anyway. Less hacks out there and more professionals like you
I imagine his primary tools to get himself in this position was commercial belt driven pressure washer and a Landa Water Jet! Just kidding.Hey Ron what were some of tools you used to get yourself in a position to retire,

Hey Ron what were some of tools you used to get yourself in a position to retire, by the way congrats man its got to be a great feeling to be financially independent. what I mean by tools, is did you pay yourself first for thirty years, 10% of what you made?? what are the type of investments that you are going to use as your money stream when you retire, rental property??
I think this is one of the most important topics businessmen can talk about and plan for, but I never really see anyone discussing it.
thanks
I'm no finance planner, pay cash invest in real things. Real-estate , play the market only with money you can wait for gain. Don't react to the market. Never sell all of any stock on rise. ( biggest single mistake of traders) Never stick all money in one, if that stock drops you should be ready to buy more not sell at a loss.
I have a penny stock I own a 100,000 shares, bp just bought interest. Standard oil was the primary who has never used the Philippine oil reserve. My father gave us all this stock when we where kids along with a stock called Boston Ed preferred 117. If there's a lesson for anyone Boston Ed was a stock he knew at the time was never going to go anyplace and pay dividends. The other was a long term gamble that one day the found oil would be used.
The biggest is stop creating debt. It's a lie that you need capital to run a one man small operation. You need to live within your means or you will be a slave to the banks.
I don't even like the idea the banks use my money, but it's better than me needing there's.
Again I'm no wizard of finance. I won't die a millionaire, nor will I die broke.
Get rich quick schemes are just that, schemes!!!!
Made more in real estate than anything else FYI

I retired from Union Pacific RR in May 2011, had started a roof cleaning business in 2010 so I'd have something to do after I retired. At 63 I found retirement is not retirement. LOL Just now I can afford to do what I want. Your point about debt is ride on. If it takes debt then maybe you don't need it. Also pay as you go. No Card Cards. Many starting out don't realize how competitive this service industry can be and invest a lot, through debt, only to find out because you can start a business/service doesn't mean you are in business/service. Experience taught me the K.I.S.S. principle keep it simple stupid. LOL When I started our cleaning roofs I had a used half ton pickup truck and invested $850.00 in equipment. Bought some used stuff i.e. tanks, ladders, etc. off Craig's list back then I bought my equipment from Lori, remember her? Of course as my service grew I up graded. Good advice Ron.Thanks for the advice.
Call if you get bored.
Lol
