Looking to buy a new 20 inch surface cleaner. What would you buy and who has a good deal on them.

20" surface cleaners are junk, dont buy them!!

:lol::lol::lol:

Just kidding, I have a Whirl-a-way (B.E.) hover type with the yellow shroud. Ive had it almost 3 years and Im happy with it. Got it on Ebay.

You will want a Whisper Wash Classic.
Make sure it has the new green top swivel.

The whisper Wash Classic is the one that was reccomended to me as well when I spoke to someone on these forums a wwhile back...seems to be the most reliable workhorse and is easily rebuildable. But in a pinch I had to run to Northern Tools and grab a GP 20 inch cleaner because I sold a job before I had time to order the Classic. The one I got has a gray shell and it came with a parts breakdown sheet with part numbers to order new parts if and when needed. I have been using it for almost a year now, washed many driveways and walks, and its still going strong. I use it with a 4 gpm/4000 psi cold water unit. This one has more than paid for itself and the cost of a new Whisper Wash which is what I will get next when this one craps out. BUT we only do driveways, walks and curblines with it--not commercial lots and shopping centers so its really not getting abused and worked hard, so im sure thats helping it last as well.

Hammer Head from general pumps are our work horses. They work 6 days a week we replace the swivels once a year and they cost about $349. They seem to spin much faster then the Wisper Wash classic. Check emm out.

I have the classic and it is doing great. I have had it for over 5 years now and when the need is there for another 20" surface cleaner, I will get another one or a Landa Water Jet or Cyclone, I really like the idea of tires in the back with the fixed handle.

dont by a cyclone

Stone Classic...Sorry, not available to the general public, yet...And will probably run clos to $8000 when they are available...

Thank for all the input. I have a big guy and a ground force but it cost to much to rebuilt. I changed over to head unit on the big guy to the Whirl-A-Way unit. So I been looking to get some new for a 20 inch

Usually the Whisper Wash swivels are not too much to rebuild, usually about $40 for the seal kit and about $40 for the bearing kit if you have a press or vice to press the old bearings off and press the new bearings on.

If you send it out, you are paying for about an hour for labor and shipping back besides the bearing and seal kit.

I rebuilt one myself without a press and I had to take it to a machine shop to press the old bearings off and the new bearings on. Other than that it was not too bad. They charge about $60 to do this (minimum charges at most of the machine shops here). You can buy a press and do it yourself with some basic tools and a lot of patience.

I forgot to mention that the new Whisper Wash swivel can be rebuilt by changing out the inside "cartridge" in about 10 minutes for about $125 but you have to buy the new swivel to do this. No pressing bearings off and on.

Hey Ron thanks a little to late for cuclone day late dollar short on one:(

Does that mean that you have one, are unhappy and want to get rid of it for some holiday money to spend on your family? If so, let me know.
