160,000 sq ft in 5 1/2 hrs

Good job jim. I have no reason not to believe you Jim, but who cares if I dont anyways. You make 40k per job, I make $800. I think the reason you catch so much crap, is because every time you post, it has "my rig cost this much" or "I made this much" "or "I sold a unit for this much". Seems to get very redundant, and unbelievable.

However, I posted that I made 3k in a weekend and caught tons of crap for it. I didnt even start the thread. I just posted it in someone elses. And the only reason i posted it was to show that it can be made. Ive done that multiple times since then, but I just dont say anything anymore. Good job again.

Hello david Potter. Im in League city. We're practically neighbors. Are you thinking of getting into the PW business?

Thanks Scott....

To every one, I only posted the sq ft cleaning because it surprised me as well. We usually do 130,000 sq ft in 2.5 hours. The only thing we did different this time was to clean the cement at 275 degrees instead of 225. That extra 50 degrees made the difference.

Secondly, my thoughts are if I told enough times about how much money one COULD make per square foot, maybe the rest of the country will follow. I want the price to go up from Florida to California. Granted, there are different markets and pricing would be priced accordingly, however a dodge truck is priced only a few thousand difference, not a 80% difference. Sure, it would be a uphill experience to raise the prices, but it can be done. I am proof that it can. I am tired of seeing our industry " Just getting by" Our equipment run down to the ground before we can by a new one. I know, I was there just 8 years ago. I remember how hard it was for me, infact I was thinking of getting out of the business because I was working all the time just to pay for repairs.

Then seeing some threads of one company cut throating the other just for $50 and the customer switching because they don't know anything else but price just erks me. That tells me that the person did not spend time with that customer. Sure he may of did an outstanding job, but he did not take care of the customer personally. Example, taking him out to lunch once every three months, talking to him about the job. Finding out if his needs are changing. Etc.

Lets raise the standard ! I am hopping that some of my threads will inspire the industry and say, ya... lets start today. Don't be good, be great at what you do and get paid accordingly. No more wham bamm thank you mamm's.

Just a thought.....

Well said Jim,
thanks for posting and if I am ever out in your area, you can be sure I will look you up.
I think a lot of us don't realize how big and how much $$$ other companies may make or turn but are not part of the boards. I has heard Ron say more than once they are Million dollar PW companies out there that you never here about.
I think the people on this board represent a very small % of whats out there,
most are just average folks like myself, who just want to run a successful business.
So thanks to all who share their knowledge and experience!!!!!

GUys, I apprecieate the props.

These other guys that question is only becaise they want to understand the methods better.

Jim is a nice guys and like me rubs people the wrong way sometimes.

I questions methods all the time and i'm sure when Scott Russ or anyone else I have respect for questions i dont assume the oworst right out of the gate.

Jim is also a very confident man, i could tell that from the very begining.

I'm admire that he has lasted thru some what seems rough times with people questioning his methods.

I doubted some myself and gald he has done his best to answer those who have pointed out problems.

This is th way we all learn, maybe we should all take Jim's forsight to look beyond the questioning and just post.

Great post from all here, much learning and ideas floating around.

I dont do many parking structures, possibly more than others but Jim has made it and expertise and i think thats wonderful.

I often say when you find what you like you wiill be more successful at it.

I never questioned the money the he made or what he charges per sq ft.

I just cant see someone cleaning at that production rate with the specs he quoted.

Don't take what I said the wrong way, I think it is great when a guy gets paid what he's worth and I'm glad Jim post pics of his rigs and jobs.

Still curious about how he was able to clean around 30,000sq. foot an hour with one walk behind surface cleaner.
30,000 sq. feet an hour with the swabby is only acheivable if conditions are perfect and its still not likely then.

Jim, I'm sorry if I came off the wrong way, really just curiuos how you were able to surface clean so quickly.

Someone mentioned if this was start to finish. No it was not. That was only what was read on the time meter. plus or minus 10 minutes.

This was only the washing... no gum removal, no rinsing, no prep time, no hand scrubbing, no applying detergent, no tear down time. JUST using the washer ONLY with 1 guy pushing and 1 guy holding the hose and 1 guy attending the water, moving the trailer from time to time. And yes I was surprised at the time myself. Total time from start to finish was 18+/- hours.

So if you figure time in / time out it was 8,888 sq ft per hour to completely clean top to bottom.

scott Davis

I have been VERY impressed with the quality of Landa pressure washers! The next pressure washer I purchase new will probably be a Landa.

Chris, Landa is owned by C-tech industrys. The founder Larry is a freind of mine, he sold the company about 9 years back to C-tech. C-tech was bought by Karcher.

They are now the largest PW manufacturer on the planet.

I talk with the old Engineer on ocassions do to dealings in the past with assisting in RD.

I will tell you a little secret, they make several models and some are no different now than a sticker. Of course that landa sticker is like a caddy were the other brands may be like a pinto.

Check it out and look at all there makes, you might find that to be true and save a few hundred of perhaps a 1000's..

If you gave Russ that address? I think he may have not sent it to me. mus1961@aol.com thats my personal. Please send it again..

Thanks

I agree ... Landa makes some good equipment. I always look at the fittings and connections when making a purchase. Lets face it... they all use the same motors... and most of the time the same pumps. The only thing that they skimp on is the fitting and the boiler.

Exactly! Everything I have seen that has a Landa "sticker" on it has been top-notch.
