13 HP and 5.5 GP

I think that I asked this before, but I can't find the thread.

Is there anyone running a 13 HP with a 5.5 GP?

I ask because I have a 5.5 GP sitting w/o a motor. I am thinking about getting a chonda and some pulleys.

How will it run?
Any advice?

david you can get 5.5 at around 2200 psi with a 13 hp. this year I went from belts to gear drive and I've been happy with them. you should try it less spac of a footprint for the machine and less hassle than belts.

I have a 13HP Honda, with a worn out pump, and have been considering installing a gear drive 5.5GPM pump on it. I would be interested in hearing any pros and cons as well.

I converted my old 13/3500 direct drive a few years ago to a 5.5 gear drive. As I recall, the psi is around 2600 at 5.5 gpm. It will run a surface cleaner much better than 13/3500. It actually fit on the old direct drive cart.

Bunn you can.tgo wrong with a gear drive. simple install,small footprint no belts to slip or adjust. just make sure you get a good quality gear drive general or udor.

What about pump life. I thought a belt drive would last longer because the vibration of the motor is not transferred to the pump. Is that true?

is a 16hp the same bolt pattern as a 13 hp chonda?

It's not so much vibration as it is heat transfer and speed (rpms).

Yes. The 13 Honda and the 16 Chonda have the same bolt pattern.
