12 volt verses generator

What is the advantage to having a generator model over a 12 volt? I've been told so one could run lights but after the watts for the burner are subtracted i would think there would not be a lot left for anything else. Can someone please tell me the benefits

I'm with Russ! We have been running the 120's for a long time and they keep on going. I haven't been able to run my reclaim on it though... but a good work light, and sometimes a fan for hot days!
We even used the generator to run a freezer and fan in the garage a few summers back after a hurricane! Just hooked it up to an extra 13 hp engine.

well I use 120v only. I wont conect anything to it while the burner is running though. but i have run lights and a vac + a sump pump while fleet washing. cant do that with the 12v syastems. I have also charged 12 batts with it. while im working or just charge up the 12 batt. on the PW

Thanks for the input. I hate that i'm having to wait until october to get started again it will make for an interesting winter. But, it will work out. Nothing hard work and knocking on lots of doors can't fix. I'm just happy to be back doing this again.

On the other side, I have nothing but twelve volt systems, and love them.

I've had both 12v and 120v. For me and what I wash - mostly residential - there is no operational difference. There are a few differences not yet covered though...12v systems are generally less expensive; can run with a direct drive pump which means lower gpms and are less (at least in my area) common, so repair shops tend to be stumped more often.
