The ONLY nation on the face of thiis earth that can do ANYTHING in time to keep even more people from dieing in Haiti is the United States of America. You can pledge anything you can,text cash to any aid group you want, Collect all the food blankets and supplies you want.
The reality is that unless the US military is involved right there right now it will rot on a dock since the US military is the only thing that can fix the airport clear the roads and protect the aid to get it to the people there. You see the true make up of a country (both good and bad) in times like these. Look at China and Saudia Arabia, both swim in cash from our purchases yet they give S--t back to people when they need them. They are both corrupt killing thier own people ( china's one birth rule, and Saudi Arabia basicly using slave labor to work it's refineries) What they reap they will sow back.

And we keep supporting it as People, we are sick.

I hate these political debates, our american interests at work. The wealthy people of this country getting rich off the backs or us and those poor countrys. Then they take our tax dollars to povide aid with private co that get the dollars to support aid.

The income tax has destroyed benevolence in this country. People think they don't need to help their neighbor because the government is doing it anyway. And the government always chooses the recipient based on it's payback in votes.

What welfare recipient would vote for a governor who is going to cut their welfare?
What senior citizen is going to vote for a candidate that is going to cut medicaid.

It's all calculated to produce votes.

This was a HUGE debate in the early 1800's. As a matter of fact early on the fed was NOT ALLOWED to give ONE red cent to an American town that completely burned down. It was decided that the people bear the responsibility to help others rebuild, and it was NOT WITHIN THE POWERS DELEGATED TO OF THE US GOVERNMENT to do so.

Our government now is the result of disregarding the constitution and making rules as we go.

Thus, there is less money left for the individual to decide who is worthy of help because a lot of his paycheck has been taken to give to many who are not worthy.
