1/4 hose

United Hose

I spoke to a fleet washer that uses 1/4 inch hose.

he said it works great for him,he loves it. it is so lightweight and easy to work with. The price for the hose is right but the main factor is the weight of the hose, only 14lbs/100ft. 3/8 4000psi hose weighs 20lbs/100ft.

i think his reels hold 300ft. his workers must love him, dragging around a 42lb hose vs a 60lb hose

he is a smart guy but what i wonder is how he gets the soap through 1/4 inch hose?

anybody else out there using 1/4 inch hose for fleet washing? and does anyone know if soap and chemicals will go through 1/4 inch hose

If you upstream soap it would work, though. Steve, you are forgetting that there is water in that hose that weighs 14 lbs, and there is significantly less water in a 1/4" hose. Part of the problem with a smaller hose is the pressure and volume loss due to frictional drag. That is why some contractors use a larger diameter hose for things where flow is so important, such as large concrete areas, especially with multiple machines siamesed.
