About 3,000 sqft house, not really dirty just has spider webs and flys on it.. huge pool cage & paver deck .. cage is green.. little secetion of fence about 15ft long like 3ft high.. and a long wood dock.. dock is long 50ft before it come to a 10x10 area and another 10x10 floating dock.. the house also has camera's that are going to have to be covered and what not..
so anyways i get to be the first estimate off the day so everyone can beat my price i guess, i quoted them 250 for their house/pool cage, I wanted to mesuare the dock before i go give a price ya know? they called me this morning and told me they got a guy to do everything for 250? I kinda laughed, but the woman is saying how the liked me and wanted me to come out today to mesuare the dock out anyways i let her know its going to be in addition to the 250 for house/poolcage,, anyways hope i'm not wasting my time since they already got the low ball price plan ?
 
sounds like they may be telling you that so you come down in your price overall...kinda like ya we can sell this car but we already have three people looking at it that wanna buy it.....

for what it is worth, Apple Roof Cleaning has NO work today at ALL.
First time in 6 months this has happened.

Kasey, pricing jobs is like playing Football.
Know what a west coast offense is ?
It is an offense that adjusts to the defense.

You throw the football if the defense is playing the run, and you DON'T throw when there are 5 safetys back, you RUN.

So, the Lady is TELLING you WHAT she will pay.
In a GOOD Economy, we would tell her to jump off her Dock.
But, this is SURVIVAL times.
250 bucks will buy beer, Gas for the Boat, and Bait :)
Maybe, even have enough to pay the rent on my weekly trailer :eek:

If they called you to tell you what the other guy (If there is another guy)will do it for they are just fishing for numbers.

I find that very few people who really want something done are going to waffle much, unless you throw them some huge number.If the 250 made them balk they aren't ready for the work to be done.

I would ask that i be able to wash the house on the same trip as I measured the deck, if they say no then I wouldn't bother.

I used to fish the American and Sacramento rivers for STRIPERS, some fighting Mo Fo's Homie!
I lived in Seattle for 16 years, caught many a Salmon and Ling Cod.
I liked Ling Cod Fishing.
I could go 4 miles off Seattle and fish with a lead head jig with plastic worm.
Ling Cod can get 30 pounds!

I always say "IF I could, would you" ?

IOW, if I can do the work for 250 dollars, are you READY to have it done"
Like the Cajun said you gotta get COMMITTMENT, otherwise all you had is a good conversation.
TRY not to give a number without COMMITTMENT

It may help the sell by offering some "special anti-bug treatment" (BORAX in mix) to keep her house spider free longer. Offer more for her money.

Heres how you run it down to the customer

"Ms Customer, you don't like BUGS do you" as you shake your head NO, "Now, IF there was something you could DO about those Bugs that will be included in the cleaning, wouldn't you like that" ?
"Now, Ms Customer,we put an insect preventing chemical in our house mix at no extra charge"
"So, if you were gonnna start getting rid of Bugs, when would you like to start ?
"I have Tuesday Morning of Wednesday afternoon availiable, WHAT would be best for you"

Then SHUT THE FUNK UP, let the customer talk.

If they try and weasel and squirm, remind them the BUGS are multiplying, LOL

Like it was said, give them something your competitors are not.
 
very good calls.....I think the best thing is to always put the ball in thier court. Sometimes tough to do I have found out.
 
Thanks for the advice everyone, chris i wanna call and talk to you about the borax one of these days? i'm going to go back out there today and talk to them and mesuare it. and going to try and set it up for monday, i'll take pics... but i'm guessing that dock alone is 150+ so i can't cut them a super deal, but i know how to clean all their surfaces properly, not 3000psi stucco/soffits.. pool cage/wood lotta damage they could be looking at
 
$250 for a 3k square foot house? WOW! That's low (for the house alone!)

In a good economy, $250.00 House wash, $250.00 Oversized cage & Deck,
Throw in the fence and dock, Total $500.00
