muriatic acid & concrete

i got a call today from someone who wants me to re do their concrete driveway. he previously had a handyman do it and when completed he said the concrete was brown & white. he now wants the brown cleaned off. what would you do?:rolleyes:

Keep the Cows off of it :eek:

1 to 2 cups TSP per gallon, mixed first in HOT water, and combined with Straight SH will whiten up OJ Simpson :)

i haven't seen it yet but the customer explained that it became brown after the handyman used muriatic acid.im guessing that the brown-rust color was there and became noticable after the concrete was cleaned. im going to look at the job soon.
 
The "handyman" burned the concrete by using too strong a mix of acid. Prosoco sells two products (the names escape me) that will reverse the burn. Before bidding on their job, you will need to perform a test. Most brick yards will sell what you need. Follow the directions exactly and you should have good results.

Since you don't know which product will work, you may want to buy one of each - and they are around $25/gal. So, unless you are willing to pay for your own education, you will want to charge the customer for the test. He may decide that the drive doesn't look so bad after all.

P.S. In my experience, the stains will not fade significantly over time.

Hey Russ,
I emailed you some time ago asking questions and just now got signed up on the board but my question is similar to this keep in mind I just started my business a few months ago but how do I get rust stains out of concrete? I ran into a job and tryed everything but they wouldn't come up.
