Chemical for cleaning metal roofs ??

The Cleaner

Vetran Washer 30 Years Plus
I have a client i do work for, she has asked me if i could do anything with the roof on this center we do for her? It seems she wants it brightened up, any help on a chemical and or process would be great.

I have never washed a metal roof and I want to say that to preface my comment. But I we do fleets and we use aluminum brightener on the trucks a couple times a year. We do this with a two step process. First the acid ( which is sulfuric acid) then we neutralize it with our soap then rinse. I would assume this would work on a metal roof, but I would wait to hear from someone else first before you go out and do it.

in other words is it painted or just bare metal , how steep is it and what is on it , rust, mildew , dirt ?

Hey Russ, it is bare metal roof, it looks like it is just oxidation and pollutants mixed with mildew. We will be working off a lift..

She had a couple of roof areas replaced, so the new areas really stand out. I spoke with Chris on the phone and he suggested TSP and a Surfactant. But he gave me the name of a local chemical company who he deals with and i will get with them tomorrow.

you could probably throw in some sodium hypochlorite (very weak) to help with the mildew removal but the TSP is a must , like Chris said

I am looking for a cleaner and brightner, i think chris's chemical supply house can hook me up. :D
