Getting Into the Business

After Finding this Great Informative Site Months Ago, I Decided to Register Today. I am Self Employed and Do Handyman Work in my Area for the Last Few Years, (Painting, Carpentry, etc.) I have Used a Pressure Washer for Painting Prep on Houses, Wood and Concrete. I had an Old Machine which was great for my Specific Use, but Recently "Saw its Better Days" and Gave Up. I Picked up a Excell/Devilbiss 3700 psi 4gpm Unit with a 13 Hp Honda. I am Astounded as to the People in my Area that Approach Me Wanting Decks and Concrete Done, as I Don't Believe many others in my Area Do it. However, I have never had Experience in these Areas. These are for the Most Part Small Jobs, Nothing Huge. What would be a Good way to get the Basic Knowledge of the Pressure Washing Industry? Techniques, Info, etc. Any Comments would be Greatly Appreciated! Thanx Dave

P.S. If I can't Do it Right, I would Rather Not Do It At All! :)
 
alot of feed back for this type of web site is a great start. if you read the different topics and responses that helps big. for the most part the folk on this site will help if at all possible...

I know Cleaner Times would be a good source of information to subscribe to alone with Delco's monthly newsletter. You will be able to find an abundance of information their. They have start-up kits, booklets and videos their!! This information they give you covers masonry, awning, flat surfaces, wood & deck, Vent-a-hood, machinery, trucks, etc. and anything you can imagine to clean with a pressure washer! Its a little pricey but if you can afford it it's well worth and thousands of dollars in future pressure wash business. The info teaches you legal, pricing, contracts, advertising, equipment, equipment jargon, maintenance, and lots of other things. My advice to you is to also try to find your closests local PW dealer and work with them to learn the trade and maybe even land a part-time job with one of the current contractor customers. I'm sure they can find an opening for you somewhere. You should probably do this to see if this is really what you want to do right now before you invest thousands of dollars in equipment. I barely got my business started myself a couple of months ago but I've been working and doing research in the PW business for the past 2 yrs. Hope this helps!!! Good Luck!!! ;)
