Signs unloader is wearing out

What are they? Is an increase in spike pressure or trapped pressure a sign of wear? Rebuild or replace?
 
It's not turned up too high, is it?
 
I run it at 3000 and I noticed it trapping about 3700. It doesn't like being adjusted though - Pressure changes a lot from a tiny bit of turn or I can turn it a lot and nothing happens. By the way should you adjust a trap unloader while you spray? I was thinking of spraying some silicone inside of it and on the spring plates.

I just noticed yesterday I had 200' of hose out and was on and off the trigger and running for maybe 45 minutes. I got back to the truck and my line was being pulled back towards the truck. About 20' of hose curled up. First time this has happened.
