Obama "you can keep your plan"

Tony, I agree they are moral issues. However, we are living in an immoral time when people are trying to say white is black, that what once was considered heinous is now acceptable.
Taking you argument of morality to the extreme, like you are wanting to do, consider murder. It is a moral crime because it is morally wrong to take the life of another. It also damages families. Now, it is not victimless, but I think that the victims extend far beyond the person that was murdered.
As for an innocent alcoholic, I think the guy needs help. The problem is that they often do not recognize the extent of their impairment, and because of that put themselves in a position to hurt someone else.
Incidentally, if you are wanting to cite God's law, take a look at the Bible. There are multiple instances in the Bible where Alcohol was outlawed, along with many other things. Adulterers used to be killed. Prostitution is just an extension of adultery. Personally, I don't understand prostitution, anyways. There is so much free out there, I don't get why anyone would pay for services and take luck of the draw, but that is a different rant.

I agree with you just about 100%.

There is no question murder is a crime with many victims.

So is manslaughter. Let's take some of these things and put them under the mask of God's law vs our current law.

Murder
God's law - death
Our law - prison (rarely death) - according to one's ability to pay for defense (OJ)

Manslaughter -(drunk driving death, reckless driving death, shooting a gun in the air, etc)
God's law - imprisonment
Our law - imprisonment, depending on one's ability to pay for defense (Kennedy)
NOTE, THESE THINGS WERE NOT ILLEGAL IN THEMSELVES, ONLY WHEN THE RECKLESS ACTION HARMED ANOTHER

Rape
God's law - death
Our law - prison

False witness
God's law - witness is punished
Our Law - nothing - (cops lying about evidence, ex wives claiming child abuse, etc)

Theft
God's law - restitution
Our Law - prison (and restitution to the state)

Drunkeness (intoxication)
God's law - nothing, moral issue
Our law - jail

Gambling
God's law - nothing, moral issue
Our law - jail

Adultery
God's law - death
Our law - get on the front of magazines and be celebrated

We could go on and on.

There were many other ceremonial laws, food laws, and other misc laws that pertained to the picture God was trying to paint of the coming Messiah that were enforced in that era also. There was a reason for those, for example, when Moses struck the rock rather than speaking to it, he ruined the picture God was trying to paint of the future switching from the hammer of the old law (striking the rock as Moses did the first time) vs the relationship to come in Christianity (speaking to the rock as Moses was commanded to do the second time). These had nothing to do with civil law.

God gave us a pattern for civil law. If we followed it we would have the freedom both God and the founding fathers of this country intended.

No victim. No crime. Pretty simple. Anybody can make themselves out to be a victim in just about any situation. God made it real simple. We are the ones who are screwing it up with legal stretches to outlaw what we don't like. (seatbelts???, helmets?????, etc)

Actually there are multiple scriptures against drunkenness. http://www.openbible.info/topics/being_drunk
Gambling is legal in most states. There is indian gaming, etc. I would prefer it was illegal, but people are allowed to make their own choices.

It still wasn't a civil crime. And wasn't punished except in the case of Nadab and Abihu who learned real quick not to come to worship drunk!

They would not have been punished if there had not been a law. God has never been capricious, like our beloved leader.

Those types of "crimes" were punished with consequences. Still are today, but with the addition of caging.
