Saw a guy doing a fence with a backpack sprayer and was wondering if anyone on here has ever used one for fences and decks. I was thinking about trying it out and just cleaning it out real well after every use and go from there but don't really want to waste the money if you know it wont work. What ya think? Do you think it will last if you throughly clean it after every use?

We have 4 pump up 2 back packs. There a tool and have there place on certain jobs. Clean out is always recommended but we have some for alkaline cleaners and some for acid cleaners and some for sealer. I woukdnt do a whole fence with one I woukd use my roof style pump..we have 4 of those. Tools are good and backups are better.

Seems about right. I was thinking about it before I get my roof pump in. What are you using to clean out the sprayers used for staining?

To clean them out you can use lacquer thinner or gasoline.

The first time you have caustic leak down your back you gonna wish you didn't use them.

Pump ups are good to have just in case. but I would hate to have to use one every time I needed to spray a roof or a deck or whatever. I started with the handheld and it worked fine for me. I now have a permanent setup. the good thing about the hand held one is even after you get a dedicated 12volt setup placed permanently in your truck or on your trailer you will still find uses for the hand held.

yep I will never us a backpack sprayer again 2 weeks of uncomfortable back like a super bad sunburn and I only had it on me for a few seconds.

It's not worth the pain and suffering of the burns to use a back pack sprayer to spray caustic or even 12 %. When you get burned with caustic the scars that it leaves are usually permanent or heal very slowly and painful!

The use of a inexpensive shurflo pumps to spray chemicals are usually the better choice and it's more efficient vs a pump up any day.

Ya I dont think I would spray a bleach or caustic with the back pack sprayers, I've already heard to many stories and seen to many pictures about that one. I was thinking more of just trying to use it for a stain or certain spot spraying. Going to go get a pump-up today and use it for F9 and maybe for caustic If i can.

Well if you going to use it for stain buy a good one with a good tip spray pattern. If stains have lots of solids the small hose of pump ups can clog up I know the Gray Away will clog a pump up if not stirred up real good.

I can help you put together a shur flo stain rig together if you want I'll help you find the parts you need..

The wand....http://www.dultmeier.com/products/search/10982

The shur flos are are like $70 1.8 gpm 60 PSI

All you need is to make a pick up tube "PVC pipe" and some braided hose attach quick disconnects add a battery and you are set...

Ya that's what I'm talkin about! I'm probably just gonna do this instead cause a good backpack sprayer is like $75 + anyway so I might as well do it right and get a good little staining sprayer. Is this what makes up a "bucketster"? Good info tho man preciate it, I'm gonna look more into it tomorrow I'm watching the Spurs beat up on Golden State right now. Ha!

Yeah pretty much minus the bucket...You can also put it in a tool box and cut out the inlet and outlet holes to run your quick connects and pick up tube.

Shane, do you have quick connects on the inlet and outlet?

Thanks.
