..just be aware.. the EFI system.. takes 5 to 7 amps of the charging system..
start with 25amps.. and have 18 left over.
I like what I am reading about the Kohler EFI setups. Why aren't more vendors selling these type of units?
I agree. I also wonder why no one is building pressure washers with Kawasaki engines. Lawn guys swear by them. Landa makes a few, but then you have to pay for the Landa name.
If you have Jerry build a unit for you then I'm sure he will put whatever type of engine you want on it.
I like what I see from the EFI, but I want to see what actual real world fuel savings is..
With the EFI system requiring those amp's does that mean the engine needs more power
..and that you need to run the engine full tilt all the time? .. How is the reliability of the new setup?
I understand the older setup had great reliability, but this is a new design and how does it hold up?
How does the power hp for hp line up, ie you pull the gun trigger am I going to see the same GPM and PSI?
.. .. chime in on at least fuel consumption and hp to hp comparison?
Kohler has not got things figured out with their ethanol problem yet. The efi is going to be a nightmare. Thye two local shops here have dropped them and discontinued warranty work on them due to their unreliabilty. Same with Briggs. I ran 7 kohlers at one point but got rid of all of them.
Kohler does EXTENSIVE testing..
At the factory seminars they were very clear..
fuel saving was 25 to 30% less.. but so far.. they will only commit to 25%.. still huge savings !
.. AT the rated load, no BS.
the ONLY thing we sacrafice here.. is those 5 to 7 amps of charging system..
..which uses maybe 1/2Hp.. which I belileve is "tuned in" to the rated capacity..
..That makes me want to see if the cam is the same on the standard 29hp as the LP29 ..
Sometimes they throw a few HP in with a peppier cam.
What to watch out for here is this ..
If the voltage drops because tyou're "over-taxing" the charging system..
The EFI system flutters, and you loose Horsepower..
..so DON'T "over-tax" the charging system.
..fuel consumption.. I believe I was told 1.9gph MAX on the 27hp EFI..
same as the 22hp standard engine, but better HP
