Any ideas on how to clean this?

Have a customer that we are doing quite a bit of work for in the next couple weeks. She asked me to see what I could do with this address sign. I have no idea what it would take to clean this and thought someone here may know. Any tips? It seems to be bronze.

If its bronze or brass just Google a good cleaner for those particular types. They probably have something at Walmart, Home Depot or Lowes that cleans it.
 
Sometimes the old saliva test works. Saliva is acidic and when rubbed on a surface you might see immediate results. Sometimes two big louies might clean the whole sign.

I always ask if I can perform a spit test or I ask the client if they have performed a spit test . If they haven't I educate them how to proceed with spitting in a scientific way. Spitting ,saliva and rubbing !
 
If you have a lot of work from her i would just take that sign to a trophy shop or somewhere and have a new one made up for her.I bet she wouldnt forget you next time cleaning came up.
 
Actually - you could polish that up with Nevr-Dull - works wonders (learned that on the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world) - but with as bad as that is, it isnt going to be worth your time to do it.

would be cheaper to buy a new sign.
 
Never Dull. :yes2: Used it in band to clean the brass instruments, works great on chrome on the motorcycle, cleaned the bells at church, use on a brass penny and it looks like new. Cheap, easy to find and goes a long way.

LOL works great... Its all we used in the Navy.. but still going to take time on something that size in that shape, which is why I recommended a new plate.
 
If it is the same NevRDull, they sell it in the automotive section at WalMart in the silver can.

Take it to an auto body shop and see how much they will charge to paint then pinstripe the edges and numbers.Some times there isn't a chemical solution to a problem.

I keep getting told that, but I keep trying every Friday night to prove my doctor wrong. :)
