That's what I have been trying to tell everyone. I think it is a pride of home ownership clause or something. Now some are enforcing it and applying it to roofs. Insurance companies want you to have pride in your home and take care of it. I wouldn't be surprised if Mortgage companies didn't start doing it too.

Last year alone we did close to 20 or so roof cleanings for the very same reason. Insurance company's were going to drop them because their roofs looked nasty to the point of looking like they needed to be replaced. Once we were done cleaning the roofs they looked brand new. Not sure what the outcome was with the insurance company's but I would bet that they went ahead and renewed their policy. As far as HOA's, a very large part of our work comes from clients who receive letters telling them to clean their roofs, houses, and concrete. One of the jobs we are doing tomorrow is for just that and we have 3 tile roofs we are cleaning on Friday in a community for residents who receives letters.

David, it has! My mother-in-law said she saw it on the local news and gave me a call to tell me about it. That was about 6-7 months ago (Palm Beach County area). I have landed a few up here in north Florida also. Work some keywords into a new page on your site, bet you'll start getting a few calls.

I would change insurance carriers in a heartbeat. What a scam. That is like canceling you're car insurance because your car is dirty.

Its not a scam. Moss and lichen can get under the shingle and lift the shingle. When it rains you could have a roof leak then have damage to the home.

Insurance companies are just protecting their own interests. It just so happens that interest is shared with the homeowner or at least it should be.
