iPhone finally coming to Verizon

Verizon Wireless has been beefing up its network and believes it will have no problem handling iPhone-type loads, a claim that could be put to the test this year if the carrier signs up millions of subscribers using the Apple Inc. device.
Verizon Wireless, the country's largest wireless carrier, is confident enough in its network that it will offer unlimited data-use plans when it starts selling the iPhone around the end of this month, a person familiar with the matter said. Such plans would provide a key means of distinguishing its service from rival AT&T Inc., which limits how much Internet data such as videos and photos its customers may use each month.
AT&T has struggled to overcome complaints about network quality ever since it started exclusively selling the iPhone in the U.S. in 2007. That contributed to a decision last summer to offer new iPhone and other smartphone customers only pricing plans that cap how much data they send and receive..

Verizon has invited reporters to a press event where it is expected the wireless carrier will announce it will carry the iPhone. At the Consumer Electronics Show, conference goers weighed in on the news.

The move was aimed in part at gaining a measure of control over heavy iPhone users, who have overtaxed the carrier's network, leading to complaints about dropped calls and spotty service.
It wasn't clear how long Verizon would offer unlimited-data plans. Its executives have said repeatedly that the industry needs to move to

I really like my Droid. I have no intention of changing. The only thing an iPhone can do that I can't is surf and talk at the same time. In every other way, I feel the Droid system is superior.

How can you make that Comment when you jsut said while your surfing you cant receieve or talk on the phone. LOL:smash:

Your right, but can you listen to music and surf? How about listen to music, and use it as a wifi tetherless on your Ipad? - Use Google Voice Search to start up Google Navigation to your destination. While Navigation is running, start your favorite music player and play your favorite song. While Google Navigation and the music player are running, open up the browser and surf the internet. When you get tired of the internet, switch to some Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, or whatever game you like. Remember to turn the game sound down, though, since you can do this while Google Navigation and the music player are running.
Yep, I can do that. In all reality, there are very few times that I need to look at the internet, and talk on the phone at the same time.

An unlocked iPhone can do all of it. And on the T-mobile network, do it for half of AT&T's price. Unlimited Data. AT&T thinks thier stuff doesn't stink and prices themselves acordingly. A simple unlock solves that easily.

Unless all the providers conspire on pricing, the ones that offer unlimited everything plans will set the bar.

What is the process for unlocking? How do you find the right people? I have seen unlocked phones on ebay just never understood what it ment.

An unlocked phone just means you can use it with other carriers than AT&T..

The only complaint I have about my droid is the battery life 4-5hours max.

HAve you set it to kill apps every 30 minutes? One of the reps did this for me at the Sprint stor and I go all day now. I also carry a car charger and keep it on it when ever I am driving.

Down load adv task killer & juice defender....... I was told it would help with the evo 4/droid sys.phones. My Iphone (att) is great but I am switching to the evo 4 sometime this winter/spring.

:yes4: Same problem here. I have the Droid X And yes I have the app killer on mine and use it. I also leave my wireless off and have my screen on auto dim. I've done just about everything I can to conserve the battery.

I'm probably going to get the upgraded longer life battery the next time I'm passing by a Verizon store.

Oh,,,,Other than that I absolutely LOVE the phone!!!

I usually am able to go all day with my incredible. I leave my internet on, and surf frequently. I am running Android 2.2 or group. I also turn my phone off to charge. I will admit the iPhone gets better battery life, but Droid is far more open.

It's funny.. Usually everyone I know that does not have an Iphone hates them and says there the worst smart phone on the market.. But the people I know who do have them love them.. It's just funny to me.. My wife and I both use Iphones but I also really like the droids too and know several people with them. If I had verizon I would get a Droid with out a doubt but I have had AT&T for a long time now I have had virtually no problems with the service!!

I don't have to unlock and risk my warranty.

Ordered my 32GB on pre-sale to current Verizon customers on Feb 3, & got it via fedex the 7th. I didn't take it out of the house until I got a otter box for it. I went from a blackberry to the iPhone so it was daylight and dark difference. The ONLY thing Ive found I don't love is the was of personalization I was used to. For example, being able to take a short tune someone sends in a mms message and transferring it to a personal ringtone. Everythings gotta go through iTunes. Other than that, it was worth the years long wait.
