I'm not sure of the laws in your area, but here the City of local water municipality must install their own meter and back-flow prevented.

How does that work where you are at Nicole ?

The cities here let you use your own or you can rent theirs. We paid $250 a year to Denver water for a license to pull from hydrants, then you took your meter in at the end of the job and paid for the water that you used. When we had a job we had to go to Denver water and get a permit for a specific hydrant that we would use.

Denver water had installed a new calibration wheel on the meter which was $273 just last August and we have not used it since. I am not sure if your area has a different backflow system or not. I just know that ours has one that is a seperate piece (as photo'd).

Hope this helps!

That wont fly hear either.

Same situation here, city meter on city hydrants with a large deposit and they install.

I asked if I could buy a meter and take it by there when I was done with jobs they told me that they are too easy to tamper with and they will not take any chances.

O Well.
