Does anyone have a recommendation on where to get a high pressure ball valve. I have found a few places but they want close to a $100 bucks, i thought that was a bit high... Just the regular 3/8 inch. 3500 psi maybe 250 degrees etc.

The one Kreisle posted above is the ONLY one I will ever use again. I'm not sure what Phoenix has but there are only 3 places to choose from in Tucson. I would like to spend locally but I can't afford to pay 2 to 3 times as much so I order everything.
 
The one that Michael posted is the one that I have been using for several years now.

They do last a long time but the more work you have, the more downstreaming you do, the faster they will wear out.

They are a lot better than the ball valves with the long metal handle, a lot easier to use!
 
Does anyone find they last or work better if you grease them?
 
I have used the metal ball valves from Pressure Tek and they last along time. I will continue getting them there, excellent service also! Hugh
 
what is the purpouse of the ball valve and where exactly do they go on the machine.

Tito, think of it like this. Your trigger on your gun is a ball valve. You can control the water flow by pulling it and letting go. Same with a ball valve. Open it to get water, close it to stop water. No more turning machine off and on to switch from surface cleaner to gun.

Thanks JE for the explanation, and where about do you install the ball valve, if any one has a picture it installed it would be greatly appreciated.

Jim, those 6000 psi ball valves, how long do they usually last you?

I was thinking of giving them a try next time I needed to get more ball valves.
 
A ball valve is probably the single biggest time saver I found on here. I buy mine from Bob at PTek too. Not just for swapping tools but you can actually wash a whole house with it using a down streamer. Michael K's video shows you how. A great rinsing tool too. I have used two from Bob for over 2 years and they still work like new.
 
The first one I had lasted about 1.5 years but as I downstream more and actually do more work, they wear out faster but that is ok because I am making more money.

Now they last me from 2 to 4 months then I have to replace them.

The problem I have is the stem wearing inside the ball so you turn the handle a little bit and the valve does not open then you turn it more it starts to turn, same with closing.

I asked Bob if there are rebuild kits and he told me they don't sell them.

He said that they might last longer if you sprayed grease in both sides and work it in when done using them once in a while, have not done that yet but I might start trying it out.

I use them too, I was going thru those easy to turn ones too fast, plus they are not too good for employees (they drop them and stuff) The one I use now are heavy and some are rated for up to 7250 psi, they are harder to turn but they last and they are a little less expensive too.
