high pressure will cut you!!!!!!

I get so tired of repeating my self to my employees about how dangerous high pressure can be.. in the past month I have had 4 injuries (3 different guys) none that required a trip to the Er thank God.. I am posting a picture of one that happened yesterday while washing trucks, this is his second cut this month from a PW I thought about firing him because I dont need that kind of carelessness. I didnt fire him cause it was late and we had been working for about 14 hours and I know how tired we was and we both was in a hurry to get home.. just a little reminder slow down and be safe

Exactly just what part of the human anatomy is that Daniel? Hahaha! I see the cut but do not recognize the body part. You been hiring aliens? LOL:happydance:

His hand:shocked: omg keep him away from the zero tips. dang was he testing the pressure out of the gun? i used to have an employee that loved running the turbo over his feet. he never listen to a thing i would say I had to let him go after costing me few bucks damageing a front loader never less watch out for them it could cost ya :shakehead:
 
Thats a simple fix. Gloves from harbor freight. they cost about $8 bucks and they are mechanics gloves. they get wet,you let them dry,next time you use them getem wet before you start. saves my guys all the time. and it cost me a finger not wearing them. but they managed to save it :thumbup:
 
Just why are you washing trucks with a wand short enough for your employee to slice his hand like that? There really are OSHA regulations that apply to pressure washing.

That's exactly what I was going to say! That cut should be looked at by a doctor, high pressure water injection injuries can be pretty nasty and it can easily get infected.

I had a employee do that to his calf awhile back when we P/W the tile roofs. He was rinsing and somehow ran the wand across his calf an opened it up like it was a hot knife thru butter.

I told him we needed to get to the doctor and have it looked at and he refused to go. Long story short, a week later the infection set in and he was close to loosing his leg from the knee down from gangree....luckly they saved it and it cost me thousands in Hospital bills because of his stupidity and not going to the emergency room ASAP.

Was he wearing pants? Jeans go a long way towards protecting yourself if you slip up.
I had an employee cut open his rubber Army boots with a turbo once, I was glad he was wearing something thick enough to keep from getting hurt.

Yes I understand that osha regs the wand he was using was a 36" wand... so what size wand should I be using?
 
I have briefly look over some material from that local osha people here in Tn and never saw anything about what size wand to use during fleet cleaning... If I have over looked something someone please correct me

Hey Scott, Their have been alot of folks from this thread wanting to know where to find some more info about pressure washing and OSHA.... namely me cause you make it sound like I am some hack out here with a pump up sprayer and a $200 cold water machine... I would like to know what size wand I need to use during fleet washing
