I am thinking about doing a charity car wash. How many of you have tried this? Any input? I plan on reclaiming even though it doesn't seem to be required for non profit car washes here. I know once deq finds out it's me putting the car wash on it will be required.
 
We wanted to do a Topless car wash but Larry was unavailable that weekend.
 
Have not done that, most charities here just do the bucket and rag thing here. They are talking about the enforcement here but have not heard about but a few tickets for not doing the right thing.
 
I personally applaud the thought.

Talk with some booster groups, hell just offer to reclaim the water to teach the young that nothing down the drain but rain means everybody, not just businesses.
 
There are some secrets to charity washes. If you think that the most effective way is to have girls in bikini's stand with signs, you are wrong. You need to get tickets presold, and have a definite timeline, say 8 am to 12 am. You also need to make sure that you have a minimum of 5 people at a time to help you. They will be using wash mits, drying cars and doing windows. Use DI water. It will make it far easier on you. Also do not let someone else use the gun.
Using these guidelines, we have raised over $2000 at a single carwash, in four hours.
 
thanks for the input scott. I always use di water. I am kinda anal about it. How much were you able to charge per car in your area? We charge the dealerships $3.00 per car here but I would want to be charging more than that for a charity. I am wanting to get a local news station to cover it. That part is kinda self serving. Times are tough need all the exposure we can get. LOL

Been moving...working...moving...working...doing so me side work...move work...

been driving me crazy.

I think a nice little side thing to the Charity Wash is hooking the groups up with lil trees at cost...can't leave a car wash without a little tree airfreshener.
