A fire in a pizza oven at a Carnegie Mellon University restaurant caused the precautionary evacuation of two adjacent dormitories as well as the restaurant Friday morning.

The fire was discovered at about 9 a.m. in the flue of the wood-fired oven at Tartans Pavilion, and was extinguished by city firefighters within 45 minutes. No one was injured, CMU officials said. The glass-walled cafe overlooks the athletic field and is adjacent to the Resnik Hall and West Wing dormitories, which were evacuated.
