Weekend fire damages Barnhills

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Quick action by Jonesboro Fire Department prevented a fire at Barnhills restaurant from destroying the restaurant, but heavy damage was still sustained by the Caraway Road establishment.

Jonesboro Fire officials were called to the scene at around 11:00 PM Saturday night. After responding, additional units were called to the scene to battle the flames.

According to Battallion Chief Alan Dunn, heavy smoke was coming through the rear of the building when they arrived. Dunn says fire was coming from the roof at the rear as well.

While fire fighters were able to put the fire out before it destroyed the building, but the kitchen was damaged in the fire. The main part of the restaurant also sustained heavy smoke damage.
