A at a Carl's Jr. restaurant in Fremont on Friday afternoon caused about $300,000 in damage to the property and its content, according to the Fremont Fire Department.

The fire was reported at about 2:05 p.m. at the restaurant, located at 46637 Mission Blvd., according to fire officials.

The blaze was under control about 10 minutes later, with no injuries reported. The fire was confined to the kitchen area, machinery in the kitchen, and part of the building's roof, according to fire officials.

The fire is under investigation, with a preliminary cause being the unintentional failure to clean the hood and duct of the kitchen's exhaust system.
