An Elsmere fast food restaurant was damaged this morning by a fire that started in the fryer area, officials said.
No injuries were reported.
Elsmere firefighters responding to the McDonald’s at 101 New Road found the restaurant engulfed by smoke.
Firefighters were able to put out the flames, which got into the duct system and caused an estimated $50,000 in damage, Elsmere Fire Company spokesman Frank Maule said.
Elsmere was assisted by firefighters from Five Points, Cranston Heights, Mill Creek and Belvedere fire companies.
The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze, as is Elsmere’s code enforcement unit.
