Thompson Roof Cleaning and Powerwashing's Blog Journal
Thanks for checking out our latest project. This beautiful home located on the Navesink River in Rumson NJ has been contaminated with the roof-eating bacteria that causes the unsightly stains you see in the picture. This bacteria actually eats the limestone that is put into the shingle by the manufacturer to make the shingle. Limestones are organic mineral that is composed from skeletal fragments of marine organisms. It provides the perfect food source for such bacteria. The growth of this organism on the roof is progressive. It will never go away on its own. The bacteria will grow exponentially until it has been treated.
Shingle roofs cannot be power washed. No type of pressure cleaning is suggested because it can dislodge large amounts of roofing granules. A roof cleaning job is approached more as a "pest control" treatment. The whole roof gets treated, even the parts that appear unaffected. By treating the whole roof we can insure a 100% kill ratio on the organism and the roof shall remain stain free for an extended period of time.
Thompson Roof Cleaning and Powerwashing has 2 locations, Woodbridge and Brick NJ. We treat roofs in all of the surrounding areas of Monmouth County such as Red Bank, Shrewsbury, Little Silver, Middletown, Tinton Falls, Long Branch, and Oceanport. You can have your roof evaluated for free by scheduling an appointment with one of our Roof Stain Specialists. Whether it be black staining, moss, or lichens your roof can be restored to create the curb appeal your home deserves. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
