Just after 4 p.m. Saturday, the South Bend Fire Department was called out to the Pancake House on Ironwood Road.
The owner needed to pick something up at the restaurant and discovered a grease fire in the kitchen. The restaurant closed after lunch, so the staff had already left.
The damage was contained to only the kitchen.
The Pancake House is expected to be back open for business
