Need your roof "Power Washed"? It may cause more damage than good....

Why A Roof Should Never Be "Power Washed"
Black stains on a roof are a bacteria. This particular strand of organism can digest "limestone". Roofing shingles are made with "limestone filler". This hardy strand of bacteria has a UV repellent shell that can withstand drought, winter and all other outside elements. Pressurized water only dislodges this single-celled organism and transports it to another part of you property. Not to mention all of the granules that would be blown off the roof. The roof manufacturer firmly warns against power washing a roof.

Roof Stains Should Be Treated More Like a "Pest Control" Job, Rather Than a Cleaning.
This bacteria is very contagious. It jumps from roof to roof. Once spores land on your roof, it takes hold and spreads. You must apply the correct disinfectant that penetrates the outer shell and kills the bacteria. This is the only way to insure a clean roof for an extended period of time.
Check out this video of roofs that were cleaned in NJ. Each roof was used using the Non-Pressure Method. No power washers.
