YAKIMA, Wash. -- Firefighters are trying to determine the cause of a fire that resulted in an estimated $27,500 worth of damage at a McDonald’s restaurant Wednesday morning.
The fire at the restaurant, located at the corner of 16th and Lincoln avenues, was reported about 9 a.m.
The first of about 20 firefighters arrived to find light smoke coming from the front side and roof line of the building. Further examination revealed a fire burning in the kitchen’s deep fryer. It was quickly extinguished.
No serious injuries were reported, but firefighters said one employee suffered minor smoke inhalation.
Total value of the building and it contents was estimated at $2 million, according to the Yakima Fire Department. The restaurant was expected to reopen Wednesday evening.
