An early-morning fire at the Atlantic Seafood Market in Lanham was mostly confined to the building's ventilation system and caused no injuries Saturday, according to fire officials.

Firefighters responded at about 12:45 a.m. to the restaurant, located at 8333 Annapolis Road, and found a fire in the roof area of the single-story building. The fire was concentrated in the ventilation and duct system and had spread to the roof, said Mark Brady, spokesman for the Prince George's County fire/EMS department.

The fire was contained and extinguished in about 30 minutes, Brady said. The precise cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the incident did not appear suspicious, Brady said.

Preliminary estimates place the fire damage at about $75,000, and the restaurant is likely to be closed for an extended period of weeks or months for repairs, Brady said.
