Y-Trap Filter

I have a dumb question, well I guess it is only dumb if I don't ask. What is the main purpose of a y-trap filter and does it need to be cleaned?

Yes, the reason they have them are for many reasons, on a pressure washers its so you can install a ball valve on the end and clean the filter simply by opening the valve.

Do you still use ball valves on these y-trap filters? Good idea if so because my guys always strip the nut trying to clean it out on a daily basis
