Would You Hire A Fleetwasher That Said He Could Wash 75 Day Cabs In 3 Hours?

We were concerned with the chemicals being under pressure in the pressure line, then having it burst, gettting in peoples eyes and bloodstream, and potential for lawsuits and workers comp. issues, so we shied away from doing that. It just seemed like too much risk, to be honest. But I agree, it does work good, and it is nice to two step clean, as opposed to the other option!

Bibodude, I would assume Chris is speaking about me and to correct you, I owned a truck stop before I started mobile washing and we had trucks from all over the country with all kinds of dirt, snow, salt and we washed the same way we are doing now. As he said, don't assume something can't be done because you have not done it, it just takes time and mostly proper chemicals. ANYONE washing and then rinsing the rigs immediately after washing either has rigs parked very far appart or they are doing one truck at a time. Fleet washing is generally 20, 30 or so tractors all parked in a row 3ft apart. If you are waisting time rinsing trucks then washing the next truck 3ft away you have trully wasted plenty time. This is where good chemicals come into play, a good soap that allows you to move rapidly through each truck and when finished the fleet, removes completely without streaking upon rinsing. A fleet is done by washing first then rinsing. Having a person that does nothing but rinse is a waste of salary and time. As for moving fast, in fleet washing, speed is money. You can't do a 50 or 60 vehicle account and take all day to do it if you expect to make any money.

Yes Al, you are correct. I was talking about you and how many trucks you do.

It is amazing seeing how many trucks he and his guys wash. Without getting too personal, he washes more trucks per week than most do in a month or longer.

When you have been doing them for as long as he does, builds his own rigs, has a chemist make his chems, Does not advertise and gets all his work from word of mouth, you know that he knows what he is doing.

Yes Chris,
I would recommend that you not disagree with Al. He has a short temper and would probably to beat the snot out of you! HA HA!!

How are you Al? I haven't talked to you in a while... Has the economy affected you at all?

Al is a great guy, down to earth and a very smart businessman.

He very close to what he looks like in that picture, I wish I was like that.

hey rls what high pressure down streamer are you using....

Of course that could be done with the right people, equipment and soap.

I saw several jobs where two guys did the washing and one applied the acid/degreaser when needed and they did 40 pieces in 1hr 45min on several jobs and they were dirty.

By myself I did regular cargo trailers from the small to the enclosed horse trailer at a trailer store that had mud all over them after the tornado came through and with a helper just moving hoses, I washed 46 of those trailers in 3 hours. So that shows you it can be done, just need a couple more people.

It sure is amazing how people think something can't be done and they don't want to believe it is possible since they can't do it.

Years ago people thought it took 2-6 hours to wash a house and scrub the gutters. I do them by myself in 2 hours or less for most 2 story 3000sq.ft. homes.

That is why these bbs's are here, to educate and inform everyone of the new ways, new chems and to help each other.

I guess by coming here and talking bad about someone's methods or how fast they work maybe you think that makes you cool or something????

Wrong....... It just shows how closed minded you are and many, many people laugh at you but do not tell you.

Do yourself a big favor and try to learn from these people. Most will help if you do not try to offend them or say negative things about them or how they work in disbelief.

I am sure you will learn a lot of things here if you open your mind and eyes.

I guess you think it is not possible to do 500 decks per year???
A few guys out here do that many and more every year.

I guess you think that nobody can clean/strip and brighten a 500 sq.ft. deck in under 2 or 3 hours? It is done every day of the week when the weather is good. And....they typically seal that deck in under 2.5 hours also.

Be open minded here and you will learn a lot.

If you are not here to learn, make friends and help then why are you here?
:grin-angelic:It read like a sermon :meeting:

We used run a set up just like yours Blaine. We had a high pressure down streamer right at the gun with a 3 way valve and two chem hoses running back to the tanks. It is a good way to run things and fast. But we recently returned to only carrying one hose and we low pressure acid and upstream soap. Both work good.

What ds injector did you use at the gun and how long were your hoses? Also do you know what ratio of chems was delivered to the trucks? Thanks!

DEMA injectors, I called the company and they helped find the right injector. It will inject at 1800psi. We ran 150 of hose. Dultmier Sales has good prices on the hose Bought a 300' roll and cut in half.

I don't think that Al visits the boards that much as he is always very busy.

He is really a great guy that will help anyone. I went there for a weekend to see how he washes trucks and is very fast and does a great job.

People need to know that there are different ways to wash trucks, there are levels of service to provide customers and you need to find out what the customer wants so you can price the job accordingly or pass if they are looking for detail type work if you don't offer that service.

I have not seen Dwight posting, is he still around? Still in business?
