Who has a paid BBB listing?

They cold called me so I decided to make a go of it at $400 (it wouldve been cheaper if I lied about how many emplyees I had). But there breaking my stones about discrepencies about business start dates. My "about us" page says we started small in 1991, which is true, though we were pretty much high school hacks. But she wants proof or change it on my website. Further down the page it says we went full time in 2007, and I can prove that.

Im ready to bail. Im not jumpin through hoops. Is it worth it?

I'd tell em to go jump in a lake. They tried something similar w me. I told them to put me on their "do not call" list and if they call me again I'd report them. Haven't heard from em since. About 2 years.

Their sales rep cold called me. Evidently he was browsing the Yellow Pages cuz he addressed me as "All Houses Powerwashed" which was an ad placed back in the 90's for alphabetical purposes. I guess it got handed over to some woman who's all anal about our start date. Funny thing is Ive had an A+ rating from them for the past 6 years. My grade is now gone since it's all under review. They had no problem telling the world who we are and our A+ grade until now.

I would have no problem placing a listing, but it is how they do it, and what they can do, that really scares me. They called me and then emailed me because of an ad that I had in a newspaper that had the line, "licensed and insured". The email requested "please explain who licenses your trade" with the "licensed and insured" circled and that I had 48 hours to respond. I did not respond to the email. They then began cold calling me with telemarketers trying to get me to join. When I explained that I saw no reason to join because I rarely ever have a customer complaint, and when I do I resolve it immediately on my own, they began to really get pushy and trying to "SELL" me on the other benefits. The BBB is a for profit business just like any other and they really have no powers to arbitrate customer disagreements. I just choose not to buy there products or services. They do however have power to damage someones business as they choose and that scares the hec out of me, especially if I were a member. For this reason I stay out, and pay close attention to if they list anything about me.

I have a personal disdain for the BBB, because I feel their business practices are more then a little suspect. It almost seems like a street gang that is offering protection if you pay your annual fee. I finally got them to quit calling me, and I honestly don't remember how I did it. I do know that my customers could give a rip if I have a BBB listing, and would doubt ANY of them have ever checked to see if I was a member of the for profit organization.

I agree. Not any need on the commercial end anyway.

I just tell them the same thing I tell all the telemarketers that call me "sorry I'm just the flunky employee. The owner is on vacation for the next 3 months" that usually stops them from calling for awhile.

I got a cold call about a year ago and when they explained that joining gets me a better rating I told them NOPE. Cause then if the competition joins we both have the same rating. I'd rather invest the money somewhere else for that kind of bogus rating system.

[/FONT]I decided to join after they sent me a letter about having their logo on my website. Why shouldnt I since they took it upon themselves to take my info for content on their directory? But I think im going to bail.
Can anyone refer me to someone who can remove this logo for me? Its an html site. There's a story behind me not having anyone at the moment. Im not looking for a handout.

I had a dealing with them here about 4 or 5 years ago and will not go through that again.

I never got my deposit back from the bbb, they kept on calling and wanting me to join again and I kept on telling them to call me after 5pm when I was not out working so I had time to talk to them but they would always call during the daytime and it was the same guy with the accent so I remembered him and reminded him numerous times of this. Finally they stopped calling after I told them that since they could not listen to the times I told them to call then I would call the police for harassment if they kept on calling and wasting my time.

I have had 1 person in over 8.5 years ask if I was a member of the bbb so to me it really does not matter, I have a lot of references if needed.
