Which model hot water skid is the best?

I'm in the preliminary stages of searching for a new hot water skid. I heard different speculations about different burners and actual lengths of the coils. Also want to see who is having a really good experience with their units (hw skid).

Landa is superior but is very expensive, I run Landas and Hydrotek. The Commercial Model Hydrotec is Great. Call Russ he can work you out a www.uamcc.org Discount.

All of my hot water skids run well. I have all types, 2 Pressure Pros, 3 Landas, 4 MiTMs, 1 Rhosco, 2 HydroTeks, and 1 Aaladin. They all need the same replacements, flow switches, pressure switches, oil filters, fuel filters, etc...

I honestly don't see a huge difference in any of the machines, I have noticed that some coil sizes are larger and small variations from machine to machine but they all have similar parts. And all have the same mechanical problems after hours of usage.

I don't feel one is superior from the other. They all make me $125 or more an hour so I guess I prefer whichever one I bought for the cheapest amount of money because I make the largest return on my investment.

If I have a skid with a 20hp honda engine, a Beckett burner, and a GP TS-2021 pump, then why does it matter who the manufacturer of that skid is? A pressure pro seems to do the same thing as a landa and vice versa. I would agree that some machines are easier to work on, because they have a better lay out for changing oil etc, some machines have stronger coils, and some have more btus to create hotter water. But for most cleaning circumstances I have run into, the only thing that makes a machine better is GPM. I have seen some skids are not as beefy as others and some are put together more cheaply.

Not trying to start an argument, everyone in this thread knows their stuff and I am sure they do prefer one over the other for a specific reason, but if all the parts are the same, its basically the same.

I have Landas and love them. But Jerry really puts his Bulldog machines together well and don't forget about the Sharks Phil puts up.

The bull dog is a special custom animal , Jerry gets the props from me for that. I've seen installs and it's impressive for truly custom set ups.

Ty no argument you have older landa units and most manufactures caught up to those units. The newer ones are a step above brother and if you seen one you wouldn't argue. Stop by

Oh and bull dog when it comes to custom there's only two other guys I think of in comparison. A guy in Miami and one I won't share for another 12 months.

I'll stop by and check them out Ron. I would agree a manufacturer can customize a skid to give it more bells and whistles. Which may or may not be worth the extra money. If I had the money to buy anything and it was not an object I would probably want one of those.

I guess I really should poll my employees, because I have not used a machine since the first one I bought. From my perspective they all just make money! haha

Jeremy, what hot boxes have you tried? Are you happy with them?

I have two different models of Aaladdin. One version was an absolute nightmare until we changed out the pumps and put Legacy pumps on. I bought two as an experiment, and ended up getting 9 more. We also had to reinforce the mounting plate because we were getting so much flex that we were shredding belts. Every time the trigger was pulled the plate flexed up a quarter to a half inch. It was a nightmare, and the pumps we started with were eating seals. At one point we were replacing them every 25 to 30 machine hours. Oil seals were lasting maybe 100 hours. Stinking AR RK pumps. Could get absolutely zero relief from the distributor, or the manufacturer. They said I was too inexperienced in the power washing business, and was causing all the failures.
The other version was from Delux, and I bought five of them. I have bought a total of Seven machines from them in the past 13 years.
I also have a Bulldog. It is a weird looking machine, and it is a hot box, but my guy that uses it loves it. It also has an AR pump that has proven reliable.
All in all, we have 20 trucks that run every day, and we have gotten all of them bullet proofed and reliable enough that we jut have standard maintenance issues.

When you set hands on the new landa you will see how the construction is different.

I'll bet Scott's has more hours and less Maint? Lets see what he says because I know he has a newer version.

They really kick azz

I'm just trying to figure out who's bright idea at Landa it was to only put a 2.7 Gallon Gas Tank on a unit that has a 24 HP motor. I was running the backup unit yesterday on a job and after 2 hours it was already out of gas. I hate carrying around gas/fuel jugs so since I'm keeping the unit and putting it on a trailer I'll have to modify it.

I can run my other unit for 14 to 15 hours without refueling it once.
