3000 to 3500 will be fine.

pump model will depend of course. with 3000 about 4.2 and with 3500 about 4. to 4.2..

I'm also talking about hot water unit belt drive. if your reffering to a cold unit your volume will increase due to not having a generator you have to move.

also they do make more expensive pumps that claim they can push more volume. ( you dont see many using them)

good luck maybe the wiz will correct anything just incase i'm mistaken. there may be something new on the market or old that i have never used or seen.

I have a 16hp engine and want to put a bigger pump on the p/w.
The pump I have now puts out 4.8 at 3000 psi. How much of a bigger pump can I go with 16hp? What I'm looking for is more gpm.Can I get 6gpm with 16hp?

At 6 gpm, your top psi with 16 hp will be around 2,500. If this is a hot water machine, you will also have to resize the burner nozzle for more heat gain.

This is the Formula to get the answers.
PSI x GPM / 1100 = Gas HP
Reverse the formula and you get this new formula.
Gas HP x 1100 / PSI = GPM

So
16HP x 1100 / 3000 PSI = 5.86 GPM (Rounded off)
16HP x 1100 / 3500 PSI = 5.03 GPM (Rounded off)

Thanks for the formula WIZ

I agree, with the above numbers,
just be aware that running the engine at "full-tilt"
means you have no HP left to run a generator.

12volt burners are more efficient, so you can have your GPM and heat it too !

"Full tilt" may also mean decreased life expectancy...
