Whats the difference

between the 2 gun unloader and a regular unloader?
I see in some catalogs that they specify dual gun and others say 1 gun operation.

A trapped pressure unloader is capable of regulating between 2 guns, but is not designed to do so. It tends to wear them out faster. A regulating unloader is capable of partial flow on a regular basis and is designed to withstand constant bypassing.

With the regulating unloader, you can split the flow however you want. Run 1, 2 ,3 ,4...however many guns at infinite flow combinations. For instance, if you have 8 gpm, and want 1 gun at 5 gpm and the other gun at 3 gpm, you size the nozzles accordingly for each.

So Russ, if you spent the extra money on a 2-gun unloader, will it last longer than a regular unloader with running 1 gun or should you stick to the regular type of unloader for a 1 gun machine? Just curious.
Thank You.

Good info!!!

Russ J, what is happening in my situation, what do you suggest I do.

I have the green spring trapped unloader, with a 9.0 tip on the lance with a TSF2021 pump setup, should I have any water passing back to bypass?

Head pressure reads a little over 3600 psi. When I tighten the nut on the unloader the bypass flow stops but the pressure at the head is near 3800psi.

Also what is happening in this second scenario, I have a ball valve on the end of hose and I crack it a little to get the engine to load, the pump guage reads 4000psi (new guage and it happens on both setups). Why isn't the regulator doing its job of regulating the pressure under 3600psi. However when I crack it just a little further the pressure then goes to the regulated set pressure of 3600 psi.

Thanks

Back the unloader off a tad if you want 3,600 PSI.

I'm suspecting your pump rpm is off a little if a #9 nozzle will produce 3,800 PSI.

Thanks Russ!!

So my pump is spinning at a little higher rpm than the 1750 recommended by general pump? I wish I had a strobe light.

What is the pump rpms set at on the Hydrotek 8.8gpm 29HP Vanguard?
